During Monday's edition of TexAgs Radio, Richard Zane joined to take us Around Aggieland and provided updates from the gridiron, the pitch and beyond as Texas A&M Athletics are officially back in full gear.
Football (2-0)
Texas A&M survived a scare from Colorado at Empower Field in Denver on Saturday afternoon, pulling off a fourth-quarter comeback to win, 10-7.
- The Aggies have won 10 games in a row for the first time since 1998.
- Sophomore defensive back Antonio Johnson was nominated for SEC Defensive Player of the Week after racking up nine tackles and two PBUs.
- Senior defensive lineman Jayden Peevy was nominated for SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week after recording seven tackles (five solos), two TFLs and an interception in the win.
- Sophomore punter Nik Constantinou was nominated for SEC Special Teams Player of the Week after punting nine times for a 49-yard average that included a 65-yard boot and two inside the 20-yard line.
- Freshman center Bryce Foster was nominated for SEC Freshman of the Week.
After the close call at Mile High, the Aggies dropped in the AP Poll while staying steady in the Coaches Poll.
On Monday afternoon, Jimbo Fisher and a number of Aggies will address the media.

Soccer (4-2-1)
G Guerrieri & Co. went on the road and earned a hard-fought result with a draw against Oklahoma State in Stillwater on Sunday.

- 13’: Maile Hayes scored her fourth goal of the season, unassisted, to put the Aggies ahead.
- 87’: OSU’s Hannah Webb tied the match.
- The Aggies outshot the Cowgirls, 20-9.
Texas A&M opens SEC play on Friday as they head to Lexington to face Kentucky.

Volleyball (6-2)
Bird Kuhn and the Aggies went a perfect 3-0 on the weekend as they captured the Texas A&M Invitational championship. The Aggies have now won five matches in a row. Camille Conner was named tournament MVP.

Texas A&M hits the road this week as they’ll face Texas State on Tuesday night in San Marcos.

Men’s Golf
No. 16 Texas A&M opens the Maridoe Collegiate Invitational on Monday in Carrolton, Texas.
- Also competing in the tournament is No. 3 Arizona State, No. 5 Texas, No. 7 Oklahoma, No. 8 Wake Forest, No. 9 Texas Tech, No. 21 SMU, No. 25 Liberty, Baylor, Florida Gulf Coast, Howard, North Texas, Ohio State, TCU and USC.
- The event runs through Wednesday.
- The University of North Texas is hosting the event.
Women’s Golf
The Gerrod Chadwell officially begins on Monday as the Aggies open their 2021-22 season in the Sam Golden Invitational in Denton.
- The tournament is being played at the Wildhorse Golf Course at Robson Ranch.
- The event will conclude on Tuesday, Sept. 14.
Baseball
Jim Schlossnagle and the Aggies received the verbal commitment of 2023 Friendswood 3B Boots Landry on Sunday.
- The left-handed-hitting Landry was previously committed to Oklahoma State.
Equestrian
The Aggies will hold a Maroon & White Scrimmage on Friday afternoon at the Hildebrand Equine Complex.
- The meet begins at 3:00 p.m. CT and will not be televised.
- Texas A&M finished 2020-21 ranked No. 6 in the nation.
The Ags will officially open the season on Sept. 25 in Brookings, SD, with a meet against South Dakota State.
