Key notes from Billy’s analysis of Green
- We talk about this list every week, and I didn't really play a role in it this year. It has been fun for me to find out who is who.
- Henry Green, Kenyon’s dad, was talking to me yesterday because he saw DeMarvin Leal come up, so he knew either Kenyon was #1 or not on our list. He was even saying that Kenyon Green has a lot to prove with all of those accolades and needing to back them up. I think Kenyon will back it up.
- There are players like Ainias Smith or Eli Stowers who are selfless and moving to different positions. What about an offensive lineman who is projected to be a first-rounder based on what he has done at guard moving to tackle? Jahmir Johnson can’t play right tackle because of his past injuries, so Kenyon is playing right tackle. If they need him to play center, he will. That's a selfless guy.
- He’s a wonderful, thoughtful person. He’s a team guy. The reason he is #1 on this list is because he is a dominant lineman in the SEC. He has lived up to that five-star billing.
- Kenyon Green and DeMarvin Leal, at the top of this list, are the elite-level recruits that panned out. They don’t always pan out, and A&M has a couple of them that you're wondering about right now. These two are examples of that elite talent that also has the work ethic and dedication.
- Remember I came in after Richmond Webb, but in my time watching Texas A&M football, I think Kenyon Green is the third-best offensive lineman I’ve seen here. Jake Matthews would be first with Luke Joeckel after him. I reserve the right to move Kenyon up the list, and this system allows him to do what Luke and Jake could never do. This is a more O-line-friendly scheme. He's getting to show more than they did.
