N'dea Jones selected 23rd overall by Seattle Storm in 2021 WNBA Draft

April 15, 2021

N’dea Jones was selected 23rd overall by the Seattle Storm in the 2021 WNBA Draft on Thursday night. Jones became the 16th Aggie to be drafted after finishing up her four years in Aggieland.

Jones will head to Seattle after her teammate, Aaliya Wilson, was originally drafted by the Storm at the 11 spot, then traded to the Indiana Fever.

From Lawrenceville, Georgia, Jones was the No. 18 player in the 2017 recruiting class and made big waves from the beginning of her career in Aggieland. As a freshman, she started 23 games and averaged 9.5 rebounds per 40 minutes.

Jones earned the title of “Rebound Machine” her senior season when she surpassed two school records. N’dea Jones is the A&M women’s all-time rebounding leader, with 1,026 boards, and holds the program record for double-doubles, with 41.

Jones garnered several awards as 2020-21 wrapped up, including AP All-American honorable mention honors. She was also named a Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and Katrina McClain Award semifinalist for the nation’s top power forward.

In the preseason, Jones was named a first-team All-SEC member. During her senior campaign, she collected Co-SEC Player of the Week honors with her back-to-back double-doubles over Lamar and DePaul. Her second SEC Player of the Week award came after the regular-season games against Alabama and South Carolina, where Jones added a couple of double-doubles.

Jones wrapped up the season with first-team All-SEC honors, making it her second All-SEC postseason award.
