Texas A&M center Ryan McCollum headed to the 2021 NFL Draft

Rugged center Ryan McCollum on Wednesday announced he would pass on an extra year of eligibility at Texas A&M to enter the NFL draft.

McCollum, a three-star prospect out of Klein Oak in 2016, proved a major factor in the Aggies 2020 offensive line, which was among the best in the nation.

The 6-foot-5, 300-pound senior made 24 starts at guard and center in his career, which was marked by injuries that forced him to miss most of the 2019 season.

He came back strong this season and was named the Southeastern Conference Offensive Lineman of the Week for his role in a 31-20 victory over Auburn.

Thank you for great years in 2018 and 2020. Wish we could have kept him another year.

He did a great job. So many have commented on all the reasons why the o line was so much better this year. Very rarely did I see it mentioned that the lone new starter McCollum was a big driver of that. He was a significant upgrade and really stabilized and held the center of the pocket for mond.
