During Monday's edition of TexAgs Radio, the fish bowl's own Richard Zane joined to share updates from the latest in Aggie Athletics with updates from soccer, cross country and Aggies in professional sports.


Football
Game week is finally here! Texas A&M hosts Vanderbilt on Saturday night at Kyle Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on the SEC Network alternate channel.

Jimbo Fisher, Kellen Mond, Buddy Johnson, and Ainias Smith will speak to the media on Monday afternoon. The press conference is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m. and we’ll have you covered right here at TexAgs.com as it happens.

The 2020 road uniforms were released on Saturday evening. A&M’s primary road uniforms will feature maroon helmets, white jerseys, and white pants.

Soccer (1-0)
G Guerrieri and the Aggies opened their 2020 season with a 3-0 victory on the road against Ole Miss on Saturday evening.

  • Addie McCain scored twice, and Laney Carroll scored one. Congratulations to Carroll, a freshman from Redlands, Calif., on her first career collegiate goal.
  • Jimena Lopez and Barbara Olivieri each tallied an assist.
  • Shantel Hutton made six saves as she registered her first clean sheet of the year, and ninth career shutout.

Texas A&M soccer returns to action on Sunday, September 27, as the Auburn Tigers come to Ellis Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. and can be found on the SEC Network.

Cross Country
Texas A&M opened their 2020 season at the SEC Preview Meet in Baton Rouge, Louisiana

  • Aggie men finished 3rd (Top performer: Sophomore Eric Casarez, 6th - 17:34.5)
  • Aggie women finished 5th (Top performer: Junior Abby Santoro, 18th - 17:59.5)

Their next meet is the Gan Creek Classic in Columbia, Missouri on October 3.

Baseball
Texas A&M baseball’s first day of fall practice is today, Monday, September 21.

Richard’s top three performers from Week Two of the NFL

  1. Mike Evans, Tampa Bay - Start, 7 catches, 104 yards, 1 TD, 10 targets in 31-17 win over Carolina
  2. Myles Garrett, Cleveland - Starter, 6 tackles, 3 solo tackles, 3 assisted tackles, 1.0 sack, 1 forced fumble, 2 QB hits in 35-30 win over Cincinnati
  3. Tyrel Dodson, Buffalo - Starter, 8 tackles, 6 solo tackles, 1 TFL. This was Dodson’s first career start

MLB Postseason Picture
It looks like every Aggie in the MLB not named Michael Wacha (New York Mets) will make the postseason. With just a week to play, there should be a lot of Maroon & White represented in October.

  • AJ Minter, Atlanta - Braves are likely to win the National League East as they currently hold a 3.0 game lead over Miami (Philadelphia is 4.0 games back). Their “magic number” to clinch the division is currently 5 entering play on Monday, while their “magic number” to clinch a playoff berth is 4.
    • 2020 Stats: 19 games, 1-1, 0.48 ERA, 18.2 IP, 19 K, 2 BB, 0 holds, 1.38 WHIP
  • Tyler Naquin, Cleveland - Indians are likely to make the postseason as a wild card team. They are currently holding the first wild card spot, and their “magic number” to clinch a postseason spot is at 2 entering play on Monday.
