Key notes from Recruiting Country

  • There was a slow weekend in terms of recruiting because of move-ins. everyone is in except for Adarious Jones and Tarian Lee. Everyone else is here. I think the group got together and worked out a little bit last night. They'll have orientation today and get going.

  • With Garrett Hayes‍, the kid isn't going to talk a lot. You gotta get stuff from your sources. If you think it's a done deal because he's got family ties to A&M, that is short-sighted. Arkansas and Oklahoma are pushing hard. A&M has some work to do and it would be a phenomenal get. He's got so many other things on his mind before football. He wants to fly planes and all kinds of thing. For some of these kids, football is just what the do in order to get into school and go into other avenues in life. It's just a different recruitment. The coaching staff knows that.

  • Haynes King‍ is expected in this week. I think he's coming here and then going to Ole Miss, Tennessee, Auburn. Just a football playing dude. He's been born and bred to be a quarterback. Nobody gets on him more than his dad and that might help Jimbo being used to how he gets on his quarterbacks. He wants to be done with his recruiting by the end of the summer.

  • We will get a list of official visits out soon. Camp is the weeks of the 6th-7th and 11th-12th. So the next couple of weeks. Those are the big on campus camps where they bring in as many players from across the country to see how they respond to coaching. A lot of kids on the tour have said they're coming to A&M for game.

  • The talent with the '21s and '22s is insane. If you can't sign players in those classes out of Texas, you're in trouble.

  • You want to pick up commits if they're the guys you want. You don't want to take too many too soon and have to try and make it work from a numbers perspective. You want to find the right pieces. Obviously, you don't want to go into that second signing period with a lot of work to do. I think A&M will be in double digits by the end of the summer.

  • I think it will be a summer time decision for Seth McGowan‍, and Oklahoma has a ton of momentum with him.

  • Haynes King, Marco Domio‍, Isaiah Raikes‍, Antonio Doyle Jr.‍ and Kourt Williams II‍ will all likely shut it down this summer.

  • As far as offensive lineman go for summer commits... Chris Morris‍, Omari Thomas‍; is a big bodied kid out of Tennessee. Michael Carmody‍ is a kid form Pennsylvania who is coming back for an official visit to Texas A&M soon.

  • It's not like a ton of the Ags’ top options are falling by the wayside. I think everyone I just listed, A&M is feeling really good about but they're not sewn up and done. I think the best feeling they've got is probably Isaiah Raikes. But he might stay closer to home at Northwestern or Penn State. What happens if Raikes says he wants to play at Penn State and then Fadil Diggs‍ decides he wants to play at Penn State.

Is Jimbo not recruiting the highly rated Texas kids Ja'Quiden Jackson, Chris Thompson, Vernon Broughton, Troy Omeire, Chad Lindberg.....or are they just not interested in A&M? I see no mention of them.
