A&M’s move to SEC ranked 2nd-best decision in CFB over last 10 years

As you're probably aware, we're still smack dab in the middle of internet rankings season, and this is a new one: Sports Illustrated has ranked the ten best decisions over the past ten years in college football.

(Side note: ok, ok, this is not an actual ranking, but they listed them in a pretty deliberate order, so I'm taking it as one. Sorry, not sorry.)

To nobody's surprise, the NCAA's decision to replace the BCS with the College Football Playoff is easily #1. As it should be.

And then comes #2: Texas A&M's decision to move from the Big-12 to the SEC! SEC! SEC! It's not a hard argument to make (unless you live in Austin or Waco), but here's an excerpt from their reasoning:

Many programs have seen their national status barely bolstered by their new allegiances. Others (Missouri, TCU) enjoyed quick success before returning to the middle of the pack. And though Texas A&M hasn’t won a conference championship or made the College Football Playoff since it joined the SEC in 2012, its move will have the highest and longest-lasting payoff of any recently realigned team.

...

Every season since joining the conference, Texas A&M has held its own, and its football product is unequivocally better than it was in the Big 12.

Good for our SEC opponent to have a win in November.

They also mentioned how good for recruiting for other SEC schools.

The programs that fled the BDF should be tied for first.

I'm sure Mizzou, NU, and CU are happy they left the Big 12...but their on field football success has not been the same as it was in the Big 12.

whereas A&M's last 5 years in the SEC have been clearly better than the last 5 years in the BDF

Aside from our 1sr year in SEC our on field results have not been much to write home about.

Colorado is up right now but it's been long enough their results now have very little to do with moving conferences IMO.
