Texas A&M didn't exactly knock the cover off the ball on Sunday, but the Aggies used solid pitching and produced just enough at the plate to put two in the win column against Brown.
That was all that Kilkenny would allow, however. The sophomore from Houston settled down after that and stifled the Bears for the rest of the afternoon.

Texas A&M didn't exactly knock the cover off the ball on Sunday, but the Aggies used solid pitching and produced just enough at the plate to put two in the win column against Brown.
The Aggies only had to play one inning to record their first win of the day as Austin Homan worked a seven-pitch RBI-walk to cap off a 3-2 victory, and then they got an outstanding start from Mitchell Kilkenny and three timely run-scoring hits in the series finale to complete the sweep, 5-1.
"It's hard to win two games in a day," head coach Rob Childress said after the game. "We came out this morning, and I felt like we were ready to go."

Brown jumped out to an early lead in the top of the third when Willy Homza hit a one-out double and then came around to score on an RBI-single by Sam Grigo. That was all that Kilkenny would allow, however. The sophomore from Houston settled down after that and stifled the Bears for the rest of the afternoon.
For the second straight Sunday, he pitched seven innings of one-run ball, striking out five and walking three.
"I thought he got better as the game went along," Childress said. "Struggled a little bit in the first inning, had some traffic on the bases, but his last three innings he was pretty special."
Rob Henry sent a jolt through Olsen Field when he lifted a fly ball to deep left that sent Walker Pennington all the way to the warning track. It would have been a game-tying blast had it left the yard, but Kilkenny said he knew the park would hold it.
"When you're here every day, you get a feel for how far balls are going to go, and you just kind of know," Kilkenny said. "A little part of me was scared, but at the same time I kind of knew, watching Walker, that it wasn't going to go out."
The Aggies evened the score in the bottom of the fourth with a two-out RBI-single by Jorge Gutierrez. Braden Shewmake led off the inning with a single, moved to third on a ground-out and a Cole Bedford single, and scored as Gutierrez squeezed a ground ball between the shortstop and third baseman.
After Kilkenny quickly retired the Bears in order in the top of the fifth, Shewmake was involved in more scoring in the bottom of the inning. Homan and Blake Kopetsky started the inning with back-to-back singles, Kopetsky advanced to second on a fly ball by Logan Foster, and then Shewmake singled up the middle to give A&M a 3-1 lead it would never relinquish.

The Aggies tacked on two more insurance runs in the eighth with a two-out rally. George Janca, who replaced Gutierrez as a defensive replacement in the eighth, belted a single to left on a 3-2 pitch. Walker Pennington got hit by a pitch, and Nick Choruby slapped a two-run double to left to score both.Landon Miner came on in relief of Kilkenny and tossed a scoreless eighth, and Turner Larkins made his much-anticipated season debut to close out the ninth. He only needed 14 pitches to dispatch the three Bears he faced, striking out two.
"It felt real good, honestly," said Larkins, who ended last season in the Aggies' starting rotation. "I pulled (a back muscle) a couple weeks ago, so I was out for the first couple weeks, but by the grace of God I was able to heal quickly and I'm glad to be out there and help my team again."
The Aggies will return to the diamond Tuesday as they travel to Austin to take on Texas in the Lone Star Showdown. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at UFCU Disch-Falk Field.
