Texas A&M Softball beats Sam Houston State in midweek tilt, 2-0
The Texas A&M Aggies add another notch to their belt against the Sam Houston Bearkats, winning a midweek contest at the Aggie Softball Complex, 2-0.
Wednesday's game was the 108th matchup between the two teams, and with the victory, A&M pushed its winning streak against the Bearkats to 48 games.
The Ags took control of a scoreless game in the bottom of the sixth when junior Kristen Cuyos singled to third base, advancing pinch runner Miranda Miles and Tori Vidales to load the bases. Freshmen Sarah Hudek sent Miles and Vidales home with a base hit to give the Aggies a 2-0 lead.
The runs were enough to clinch the victory, thanks to Trinity Harrington's brilliant pitching performance.
Harrington led the Aggies in the circle and held the Bearkats scoreless throughout the game, earning her second win this season. She allowed just one hit and recorded eight strikeouts on 102 pitches.
Texas A&M will kick off the Aggie Invitational this Friday, hosting Stephen F. Austin at 3:00 p.m. and Missouri State at 5:15 p.m. in hopes to improve upon its 5-0 record.
