Texas A&M Football Recruiting
Argyle Liberty Christian QB Nick Starkel picks Aggies over UCLA
On Thursday Texas A&M added another piece — and a key one — to its 2016 recruiting puzzle, picking up a commitment from Argyle Liberty Christian quarterback Nick Starkel.
Starkel committed to the Aggies during his in-home visit with Kevin Sumlin on Thursday evening.
The 6-3, 185-pound signal-caller, a one-time Oklahoma State commit, also held offers from UCLA, North Texas and Yale, in addition to those from the Aggies and Cowboys. He was an Elite 11 finalist at Nike's The Opening this summer.
During his senior season, Starkel completed 202 of 364 passing attempts for 3,091 yards and 29 touchdowns to go with 14 interceptions. In his career as a starter for Liberty Christian, Starkel threw for almost 5000 yards and 48 touchdowns.
The Aggies now hold 19 commits in the 2016 class, with Starkel marking the group's only quarterback.
