Texas A&M to hire Noel Mazzone to fill offensive coordinator position

Confirmed through multiple sources, UCLA's Noel Mazzone will be named Texas A&M's new offensive coordinator.

Mazzone will replace the outgoing Jake Spavital, who mutually parted ways with the program on Sunday.

The Bruins OC comes to Aggieland after having spent the past four seasons in Westwood. Prior to that, Mazzone served as the offensive coordinator at Arizona State for two seasons; he has also spent time at Ole Miss, NC State, Oregon State and Auburn, among others.

Good solid hire to lead and coach up our offense. Veteran Coach with a solid resume who has coached QB's longer than Spav;'s age. Oh and has nice WR expertise. Good luck Mazzone and BTHO of the naysayers!

As long as we will be able to run the ball effectively, then I think that translates into being much more competitive against the tops of the West in Bama, Ole Miss, & LSU and thus giving us better chance to win 10+. This may not be a bad hire, it just isn't the shiny hire in Meacham.

I think he's going to do okay. Knight will more than likely win the starting job and I feel he somewhat resembles Hundley at UCLA, which worked fairly well with Mazzone
