It's been only three days, but Dan Campbell already seems to be adapting pretty well to doing this head coaching thing.
When the Miami Dolphins fired former coach Joe Philbin and instated Campbell, previously the tight ends coach, as interim head coach on Monday, it seemed a necessary change. But now, it also looks like it was an extremely welcome one.
"This is my sixth season with the Dolphins, and we have, by far, the most talent in that time frame," Campbell — an Aggie who played on A&M's 1998 Big 12 Championship team — said after the move was announced. "I just have to change the culture. ... I'm going to challenge every player on this team, from the best guy on the field on down, and that starts with practice.
"I want it to be really intense and really competitive on Wednesday and Thursday and maybe even Friday. If that means we have to break some things up, that's fine."
That is, it would appear, exactly how things have gone down.
And it hasn't taken long for the praise to roll in. https://twitter.com/rcslocum/status/651139625939898369 https://twitter.com/Saints/status/651096563259973632 https://twitter.com/Feat_Alex/status/652190075204300800 https://twitter.com/Grosso26Mike/status/652188323188879360 https://twitter.com/ProFootballTalk/status/651370425759498240
Let's all sit back and watch as he charms his way into the hearts of America, one press conference at a time.
