Jolly Good Time: A final farewell to G. Rollie White

Enjoyed watching many a game in there; you can't replace that courtside experience of being down on the floor. I remember one game where I was warned by a ref for waving a dollar bill in front of his face.

Some of my favorite times while I was a student were spent there (probably more than were academically prudent).

Those great memories will remain long after the building is gone.

I will miss G. Jolley Rolley.

That's what I loved most about it. You knew you were a part of the game, really from any seat, but especially as a senior down front. Lots of fun times in that place. Graduation too.

Should have renovated G Rollie instead of building Reed. Could have had a smaller, kick-ass hoops atmosphere in the heart of campus.

G Rollie was a dump....but it was our dump.

I graduated from Bryan High School at G. Rollie, and going to Aggie hoops games there when I was a kid was a highlight...GRWC is a dump now and has been for decades, but it still holds fond memories for me and my family.

I'll miss that building. Goodbye old friend indeed.

As a current student I wish I could have seen one game there. I love those small sport venue place, especially for basketball

I got three basketball seasons in the senior section: 2 as a undergrad and one as a grad student. It was a snake pit. Front row was what? - 5 feet from the sideline?

Some classic games with Arkansas in my time.

One game, the section we were in collapsed at halftime. A bolt sheared and it dropped a foot or so. Nobody hurt and we crowded into the adjacent sections. When the team came back out to start the second half, they did some double-takes at the missing section.

My family and I spend an inordinant amount of time at G.Rollie and still hold it in deep affrction. We saw hard fought games, incredible crowds, coaches that were friends off the court, and had players that were family to us (at least most of them). We will be sad to see it go. We are hoping to get a piece of the floor. She was a tough place to play if she weren't yours. I loved that about her.

Rode by on my bike today and snapped a few pics. Will be sad to see her go. Lots of great memories of the Holler House.

First DeWare ... now G Rollie.

Without naming the court at Reed for Shelby, we have almost erased his legacy.

Went to my first campus Muster there & camped out for Big 12 Championship tickets on the lawn of the Jolly Rollie (where everyone stole power for TVs, game stations, etc). We'll miss you old friend.

First time in GRW was for PE in fish yr fall of 55. Dressing rooms not finished untill about November.Had PE with bb player George MeHaffey and fb player Bobby Marks great guys.Last time was in July of this year to see my grand-daughter @ A&M volleyball camp,a lot of great memories in that span of time.

Lot of sweat in the old holler house. I'll miss her. I remember playing pick-up games with Sonny Parker, Carl Godine, Jarvis Williams, Steve Jones, Randy Knowles, etc.

I remember when Steve Martin went into McDonalds and started throwing pickles off of hamburgers.
