If you could change one thing about the recruiting cycle, what would it be?

Needs more drama.

I would give students the ability to sign a LOI anytime they wanted after there Sophomore year.
They would only be released if there was a change in the coaching staff. (HC and their position coaches.)

It would make guys who want to close it down get everyone off their back and make guys be more thoughtful before they commit.

All players get paid $ but have to enter the draft, all major schools involved and actually draft players.. Now that would be loco.

i thought this was an interesting topic, but figured it'd get lost in the shuffle until after NSD (and may never get much discussion)

i like the idea of having early LOI's, but rather than just having it be open season, i'd have designated early signing days so there'd be some fanfare (which might encourage kids to sign early).

those early LOI's could only be released or broken by mutual agreement or by the player only if the HC, OC or DC leaves within 90 days of signing. wouldn't extend to position coaches...at some point the kid just has to evaluate the likelihood of those guys leaving.

to avoid the UCLA issue, i'd let any kid out of a LOI if a HC leaves within 30 days of signing.

Increase the scholarship number to 95. The number of games have increased from 11, need additional depth.

Binding LOIs allowed to be signed starting June 1st before senior season. Gets rid of the verbal commit/decommit back and forth.

Conferences should make their own rules regarding when their members will release LOIs in case of a coaching change. Adds another factor for recruits to consider when making an early commit with an LOI.

I agree with the early LOI. Though I don't know that it could happen. Recruiting is big money now too and national signing day just adds to the drama.

Not recruiting related. Schools should pay for medical insurance policies that pay for life time medical issues created from playing the game.

Probably the best idea I've heard when it comes to recruiting. If you want to lock it down then lock it down early, but if something out of their control happens, i.e. coaching change, they can switch. Would eliminate some drama but definitely not even most of it.

Lifetime, really? I agree their medical insurance should be paid for during their time at school and maybe a few years after, but lifetime is far too long in my opinion. Mainly because the root causes of head injury / brain damage down the road can't always be identified. Even for leg / arm injuries, I don't think it's the school's responsibility to pay for it later down the road when the athlete chose to play the sport for that school. Not to mention the cost to pick up a life's term of insurance for thousands of football players over the years / decades. It's easy to say he played football therefore his insurance should pay for his migraine medication 10 years down the road, but if I'm the insurance company - hell no I ain't binding myself to a potentially injury ridden person for his lifetime, especially when the discrepancies in injury resulting from football are often so unclear.
