If anyone can get a message to the DJ…

Play Anita Ward "ring my bell" when Natalie Ring spikes the ball on someone.

Marcia Griffiths Electric Boogie (electric slide) when we get a kill on a Castle or Sharp slide.

Playing "Na Na Hey Kiss Him Goodbye" after the War Hymn to send the tu frat boys home was classic. Well played!

I like the 12th Man song they play occasionally.

I appreciate you noticing! I'm still not totally sure how well it went over, though. There's so much happening in those 7 to 10 seconds between points that I think anything other than something really recognizable like "Monster Block" or "Here Comes the Boom" can get a little lost.

It also doesn't help that I'm usually watching the game out of the corner of my eye while cueing the next track, so I'm not always 100% sure who got the kill until Steve announces it.

And last night we had the up ref who raises her hand to start the next point about twice as fast as most refs, so that window felt even shorter than usual.

Since a lot of colleges have started using "Monster Block," I also tried making our own version with the same general beat and tempo so it could feel like something we could "own." After trying it a few times, though, I switched back to the original. I think it would probably take a little crowd "training" before a new version really lands. We're gonna chat about it and make a decision before next weeks game.

At the end of the day, I don't want to do anything that takes away from the overall energy of the game. If I'm being honest, last night felt a little disjointed to me because I was trying to do too much. I'm definitely happy to keep experimenting with it, I just want to make sure whatever we add actually makes the environment better rather than just adding more stuff.

It was the only clean song I could play to articulate how I felt about them being there. haha

It doesn't exist anywhere but my computer at the moment, but here is a link to the file. (I'm assuming this is the one you're talking about)

I appreciate your effort and understand your point on wanting something we 'own' on the remix(es) but I think the originals hit best

The time in the first set with just one line was pretty subtile. Later in the match, you played two lines worked better, but not sure how much the students noticed. They probably need some familiarity with the song to really get into it. Ring my bell probably conflicts with super spike in some ways. With ring my bell specific to a single player and thus a limited shelf life, fan training probably isn't worth it. I'm not really sure there would be fan involvement with ring my bell the same way as super spike, so super spike should probably prevail. Unless Natalie notices and thinks it is cool.

I did notice that monster block sounded a bit different, more embellished. The crowd looked into it either way, not much different from a crowd interaction.

I can see how it gets a bit complicated. You can quickly get to having a half dozen things cued up for each point. Monster block, here comes the boom, other music, etc.

Electric boogie (electric slide) doesn't really have the vibe for a volleyball match. If we combine some fan training where everyone slides could be interesting, but would probably need a cover that goes better with the vibe. But yeah, probably adding just for the sake of adding.

Your presence all through the match to beat down the noise those clowns make is greatly appreciated.

Thanks for all you do. I really enjoy the volleyball games live and you certainly play a large part of it!

That said, I'm an old and I complain about the dB levels at live events a lot. Concerts are always too loud. Kyle Field is too loud. Reed is only loudish. LOL. Especially at concerts, wouldn't the music sound better if turned down just a tad? Loud is fine.

No need to turn down the volume on my account but I just wanted to ask what is thinking behind it? Are you trying to hit a certain magical dB? I'm really just curious. I've been to concerts where I felt nauseous. Kyle Field I couldn't hear my friend yelling into my ear at times.

Thanks. You are an awesome DJ. I wish the yell leaders didn't interrupt you so often.

I'm just here to say thank you and think you do an awesome job. Love hearing about your thought process and all that goes into it…not as easy as it looks. But keeping the energy going with some thump in between points is huge to the experience. Keep up the good work amigo!!
