I'll do my best.
Your efforts were noticed. Thanks.
I appreciate you noticing! I'm still not totally sure how well it went over, though. There's so much happening in those 7 to 10 seconds between points that I think anything other than something really recognizable like "Monster Block" or "Here Comes the Boom" can get a little lost.
It also doesn't help that I'm usually watching the game out of the corner of my eye while cueing the next track, so I'm not always 100% sure who got the kill until Steve announces it.
And last night we had the up ref who raises her hand to start the next point about twice as fast as most refs, so that window felt even shorter than usual.
Since a lot of colleges have started using "Monster Block," I also tried making our own version with the same general beat and tempo so it could feel like something we could "own." After trying it a few times, though, I switched back to the original. I think it would probably take a little crowd "training" before a new version really lands. We're gonna chat about it and make a decision before next weeks game.
At the end of the day, I don't want to do anything that takes away from the overall energy of the game. If I'm being honest, last night felt a little disjointed to me because I was trying to do too much. I'm definitely happy to keep experimenting with it, I just want to make sure whatever we add actually makes the environment better rather than just adding more stuff.
