For the SEC, perhaps. Nationally? The same thing was said about Nebraska last year. But we know how that turned out.

They had 4 of those girls last year and another all American, surely we couldn't compete with them right

cute response and I'd just assume you're new to college volleyball. I personally enjoy the sport as a whole, having 2 daughters who played club in the DFW through high school. As such, I like to follow all of the top teams and can do so in a relatively impartial manner.

To begin with, like many scrimmages, teams play a guaranteed number of sets often. In this case, it was 5 sets. Goal is to get reps for most players and try different things(rotating setters, formation, etc) similar to NFL preseason.

Net net: saying team A gave up 2 sets to team B in a preseason scrimmage lacks a ton of context and means very little(ie: it was 3-1 after 4 sets but they played the 5th, as agreed)

Okay Kentucky's block and size are scary

Kentucky easily sweeps Wisconsin. Like Louisville they returned most of their team and added a strong 6'5 hitter from Notre Dame. Makes a big difference early in the year.

For those that didn't know, tu benched their setter Ella Swindle, who won them a championship in 2023, they benched her in 2024, started her in 2025, now have her as setter number 3, as they run a 6-2 without her. Tu lost one of their middles to the portal in Ayden Ames and lost their monster libero Emma Halter. They signed the number one recruit in the country and another top ten player to play with a star studded returning lineup. They are ranked 2 and were expected to come out firing

They were serving aggressively with many jump serving, but so many just way off! Their passing and setting was really off! They have no middle depth behind Bunton… they have a tough non con to get better ans figure out what they want to run and who's going to set

I don't understand some of their personnel decisions today either. Harvey is good (I believe on recent U21 team USA) but wasn't introduced as a starter - only Bunton at MB. Spears was on the bench most of the time, but Anderson might simply be too good not to play. Vander Wal had a horrible amount of service errors but seems to be ahead of Spears on depth chart as well - she is really good.

Not our problem but that team has way too much talent to play the way they did with so many returning from last year.

It seems very disjointed, and I think them running the 6-2 allows all those hitters to play, but I wonder if the multiple setters (who seem to play differently) affect them. Elliot's gonna have to make some tough calls. They put a lot of blame on Swindle after failing to reach the final four last year even though the cast around her was really really young. I also think they're losing a lot without Emma Halter, she was amazing back there so there passing will take a hit. It'll be interesting to see them on Monday against a weaker opponent, but they got Nebraska next Sunday

Also their fans aren't used to losing so the pressure will be on that coach so fast

I don't understand how they treat Swindle. She literally won you a NC as a freshman. Then the coach screwed things up by adding the Baylor setter 2 years ago (and that setter left after one year). Then your team fails to reach the FF and yup, it's the setter's fault? Then now she's the 3rd setter for her senior year. Why did she even stay? Your coach literally wants to replace you at any moment.

I luv seeing tu crash. The melt down will be epic when Nebraska sweeps them.

It appears to me their coach is way over coaching and making his team worse. They were clearly forcing over spin serves and it was not working at all. Also their offense was very predictable which allowed AS to get solid blocks.

Just a guess but I think he's over coaching because we won the NC. When A&M is good in a certain sport, I have witnessed that making sip coaches be counter productive.

We miss Stowers! Outside of Gabi and Ring we have a bunch of JAGs - no difference makers. They may improve throughout the year and I hope they do.

I trust Jamie but time is not on our side right now.
