They said it was a record for us at home

Thanks !!

I think last year's match vs the sips was a record at the time, starting a great trend !!

Record for Reed. Unfortunately sips played a match in Moody with an attendance of 10k or so, so we didn't reclaim the state record, yet.

Our block will most important. We're gonna need a career night blocking from our middles and outsides. It's the only way to slow them down. It's Halloween so we'll need to hear a lot of Monster Block chants!

I was there. It was ELECTRIC! Even through the third and fourth sets, the 12th Man never gave up. That fifth set was where it was at. The decibel level when we won had to be through the roof! I watched several replays of the final point. I don't remember Reed going dark. My adrenaline was THAT high! Great game, great win, now let's go BTHO the other team in orange!

WHAT A GAME! Just got back. Haven't looked at stats at all but here are my takeaways!

  • Stowers had an amazing game. Not only was she called upon to hit, she played defense with so much intensity. Honestly was a little scared she would hurt herself and was definitely scared when she took a point blank hit. I couldn't see it well from where I was sitting so was happy she was fine.
  • Lednicky had a much hard time finding the kills but she had some amazing kills still. You could see it in her face that she wanted this win badly and when things weren't going her way, she never lost focus and only increased her intensity. 17 digs was incredible. While her digs weren't perfect, she got a bunch up to keep rallies alive.
  • Ifenna had an incredible night. Wish we set our middles more during some of the droughts but Ifenna made the most of every chance. She's really fun to watch after she does something good.
  • I wonder if our gameplan was to go to our outsides more and less right side. Felt that way from the get go. I don't know much about the texas squad but I suspect their weakness is on that side.
  • Serving was generally ok except for one set where we gave them 4 of their first 10 points or so due to service errors.
  • We are a much better blocking team than they are, at least for this night. Blocking is our identity and we feed off of it.
  • That said, felt like our defense struggled mightily if the block didn't slow down an attack. Many points in the game it felt like we were just sitting ducks.
  • t.u. is a much better passing/digging team. Seemed like every pass and dig were right on target no matter how hard we hit.
  • Atmosphere was awesome. Other than some sips sitting behind us in the reserved section, had a great time.
  • I liked how in the sets we lost, our girls still battled and never gave up.
  • When they showed Elko and Bucky on the screen, the place erupted. These new coaches get it and are there for each other.

Reed was rockin' all match. The DJ was on fire, the yellboys did a really good job of keeping the students pumped by doing BTHOtu about 47 billion times, and the place was nearly full. Just a great night for Aggie vball support!

This team has so much grit. They have the seasoned ability to re-focus after a lost point or lost string of points (or sets) and get right back into their flow. That's very, very hard, and reflects how much they've grown in the past 2.5 years as Jamie, Jen, Jeff, and Lyndsay show them the way.

That Texas team expected to win the whole night. They were stunned at the end. It was glorious to hear the place erupt when the final ball hit the floor.

It's hard to give these Aggie women enough credit for the work and belief and maturity they've shown.

Simply a fabulous night in Reed. I also love that Bucky got his first taste of how devoted and disciplined Aggie crowds can be when they're excited about their team.

That clip of Morrison celebrating tells you all about who our coach is. He's as invested into the game as much as the players. He's coaching all the time as well as congratulating girls who made an awesome play.

Was observing the sip coach. No doubt he's a good coach but he was just sitting most of the time and almost looked disinterested.

I still remember the picture of Morrison hunched over after losing to Wisconsin last year in the sweet 16. He coaches with passion.

Great match! I was in BR and this game. This team and program is so much fun.

My favorite part was the second set when Texas was out of timeouts and their coach could do nothing to stop our momentum with the comeback. What a key moment!

Hate to give props to the burnt orange, but Halter was a beast. A thorn in the side of any team tu faces. (and yes, she took a massive shot to the head and didn't seem to slow down).

Loved to see the handshakes at the end when Ava and Halter gave serious props to each other as liberos.

Good point on the coaches. I actually attended the Texas Arizona State game in Austin earlier this year and was shocked how much it seemed like the Texas coach didn't care, outside of a few bursts of frustration at players.

For those who pay more attention, is that just his vibe? Or is Morrison much more energetic than the average coach?

Oh he cares. You can see it on his face and mannerisms when they show close ups. But he try's to portray a super calm demeanor or one of super arrogance. He's lost his last two matches Vs the Ags. I'm sure he's not that happy today.

I absolutely love this team and the passion they show for the game. Jamie is one of a kind and he exudes confidence and passion which the players feed off of. Just a massive, gritty win for this team.

Now go take care of business against Tennessee!

Seeing photos of other coaches at the game last night to support the volleyball team, I'll mention that Jamie was at the tennis team's national championship match in May.

Morrison said something in an interview about trying to be calm on the sideline but the frustration would come out sometimes. He realized he needed to let the excitement show too.

He often talks about putting an entertaining product on the court and I think his passion on the sidelines adds to the show. He is so passionate about not only the program but the sport as a whole and it really shows with the way he engages with the student section. Not only joining the students (along with the team) in the stand to saw em off at the end.

early last season I watched him meet with the Reed Rowdies during warm ups to introduce the Monster Block and Super Spike "here comes the boom". It has been really cool to watch it start with the front row students and spread to the rest of the student section over the course of that match, and then to slowly spread to the olds over the season. Mid way through the season last year, my wife was giving me crap for doing monster block when I was one of very few on the reserved side. Then a few matches later, I was able to point to more and more on the reserved side doing it. last night, the whole arena getting into the monster block was fantastic.

I have faith that the 12th man will show up no matter what. There will just be more if we are winning.

Plus Bucky seems pretty cool. If he takes tips from Jamie about engaging with the students, I'm pretty sure they will back him through the growing pains.

I didn't start watching till third set last night. Just watched replay of first two. That second set was crazy. Multiple 3-6 point runs with both teams out of time outs early. Aggies down 17-21 and come back to win it.

What a night. Had we beat KY probably would put us a top 5 team.

oh Bucky is, aside from hosting an open scrimmage to the public. He had a meeting with the Rowdies, the dance team, and the band, then gave them all a tour of the facilities. He's trying hard!

I'm wondering who is responsible for the great PR of late, the personal interview shorts and more on social media? I'm really enjoying getting to know these new Aggies in all sports. Kudos to whomever is working overtime to produce all the videos and posts. Also appreciate the TexAgs interviews as well.

I told my wife last night that Halter was the difference when they got on a roll. She offers superb defense and then can set as well as the starting setters when required. She's the real deal.
