Omicron is not the only variant floating around. It is possible that your dad got one of the other variants like Delta.

COVID is taking off big time here in the Brazos valley, I've had more positives this week than I have in the entire pandemic. They aren't very sick at all though. Sore throat, fatigue, headache, body aches, fever, vomiting for the most part.

I have known a ton of people test positive and its a cold if any symptoms at all. And people are sick for a few days not 10 days or so with the other strains.

We're doing as best we can under the circumstances, thank you for asking. I flew in from Alaska and the disparity between Covid awareness between here in Texas and there is mind blowing. While taking to a funeral director about our concerns of social distancing and spread mitigation she wipes her nose then offers her pen to step mom to sign papers. I'm currently at my mom farm in Crockett to get away from people as 4 more relatives popped positive. I've unfortunately cancelled flights for my wife and kids, keeping them in AK. The holiday spread is building.

Sure but that is like worrying about getting hit by lightning on a sunny day. It happens just very very rare and not much you can do about it. So far there is no evidence that vaccine prevents MIS-C. Prior to Omicron I would argue that vaccine would decrease the risk by preventing infection, but the vaccines don't appear very effective at preventing Omicron in general.
