Lots of employers do which means lots of people have been unable to work. In case you haven't noticed, we're facing some staffing issues across the country. This should help.

Lol for people who still listen and follow CDC guidelines.
The mask guidance they put out last summer should have put an end to that.

Strict mask use works but only after you don't have covid anymore.

Well they are idiots and people are dumb for testing at the first sign of a sniffle or because someone you've been around for a few minutes got Covid.

A lot of people are getting tested because school districts and employers require it to come back to school or work. The only reason we did was for that reason, so we could get our kids back in school. Unfortunately, we all tested positive, even with just the "sniffles".

But keep on with your "people are getting tested just because they have the sniffles" nonsense.

You must not live in TX if school districts are requiring tests for positive contacts. If no symptoms most districts in TX aren't requiring tests due to a positive exposure.

I do not live in Texas. They aren't requiring for contacts, but if your kid stays home from school and has 2 vague symptoms (ours were stomach ache and headache) we were required to have a negative test (not an at home test) for him to go back without quarantining for 10 days. When he tested positive, we got the rest of us tested. Then the symptoms hit 2 days after for my wife and I. We didn't test just to test, and I've known numerous people with the same "issues". Be thankful (maybe?) that you live in Texas and they don't give a **** about anyone getting this.

Kids here in Michigan still have to wear masks, but that doesn't bother me at all as long as they can go in person.

And for the record, it was brought into our house by one of our 4 year old twins who caught it at daycare.

We were stuck at home for 3 weeks as it progressed through our house. Fun times for any parent of small children.

I don't agree with the rules, but unfortunately we have to play by them.

The new guidance treats "unboosted" as unvaccinated with respect to close contact quarantine. These people have learned nothing and hate science.

Anyone who has been really paying attention knew that the definition of "fully vaccinated" was going to change and the goal posts will continue to move.

And there were plenty of people arguing that the vaccines would protect you from infection and spreading to others before they knew that vaccines are not stopping people from infections or spreading. Fauci was leading that narrative. I could provide video examples, but I'd rather not get banned.

"Alternatively, if a five-day quarantine is not feasible, it is imperative that an exposed person wear a well-fitting mask at all times when around others for 10 days after exposure," the CDC added.

So I'm not asking WHY anyone gets tested as that's apparently a bannable offense, but there are a few instances when there is a REQUIREMENT to get tested. For instance, I am going on a cruise in February and we must have a negative COVID test within two days of travel.

But yes - most getting tested are going to be around someone vulnerable - which is confusing to me since if I'm sick, I'm not going around anyone vulnerable whether it's COVID, a head cold or AIDS. I don't see where a negative COVID test is going to make any difference in how I act while I'm sick.

People who are asymptomatic and test because they don't want to risk transmitting the virus to vulnerable people is confusing to you? Or are are you focused on symptomatic testers?

Perhaps you don't believe in asymptomatic spread. That's fine. Just state that up front as you're questioning others about getting tested.

No I do not believe in asymptomatic spread. And if you do, you should never leave your house because you may contract COVID between your test and when you bump into someone, thus spreading it asymptomatically.

That study you posted doesn't verify asymptomatic spread is real either - it says "this study highlights the potential transmission risk of asymptomatic infections in communities."

This should help does not mean that one agrees with the rules. It implies that one believes the rules are causing issues for many people that will be helped by this change.

Point of correction: the staffing issues aren't even slightly a function of a 10-day post-infection quarantine guideline. When places are fighting to get skeleton crews on a payroll even when offering inflated wages - the problem is well beyond a single-occurance extra week of recovery.

(I could explain the root causes, and they have to do with people responding to incentives, but we'd need to hop over to another forum for that.)

Wait a second - are you suggesting asymptomatic people were sitting in line for hours to be tested just in case they MIGHT have the COVIDs? Everyone I've seen posting about getting tested out of respect for "compromised" relatives were exhibiting symptoms such that the results of the test were irrelevant - they didn't need to be around that relative no matter what.

I wonder how many people caught Covid waiting in line to get tested for Covid. Got a negative test and then passed it on anyway.

I equate forcing my kids to wear a mask with cruel and unusual punishment.

Cruel and unusual punishment for who tho?

I'm with you… it breaks MY heart, but it doesn't bother her… of course kids will model the adults in their life… and I guess we don't complain about it around the kid…

You can rationale it whichever way makes you feel better. Masking children to enable the phobias of adults is cruel and selfish.

The only place my kids have worn a mask in about 16 months is on an airplane to appease the feds. I refuse to subject them to this insanity in any other circumstance. My kids are old enough to feel sympathetic for others kids forced by their parents to wear those things in public.
