Might have just been something else viral and/or a good old sinus infection.
Dec 12, I noticed my throat was hoarse/scratchy. Thought it was from lack of sleep. Over the next couple of days my voice got worse, but no other symptoms. By Wed the 15, I had a fever blister on my lip, so I knew my body was fighting off something. We had plans to fly to Canada on Fri the 17, so I took a rapid NAAT test on Wed. Negative.
Get to Banff, where it is anywhere from -5 to 33* F (we live in HOU, and it was 80* when we left). Previous to the trip, the most extended cold weather I'd experienced was the freeze last Feb.
By Tues the 21, I'm was so stuffed up it's ridiculous. My nose is all dried out, and it alternates from dripping like a faucet when I'm outside in the cold to almost completely closing off at night in the heat. Had some post-nasal drip that irritated the back of my throat, some mild intermittent sinus pressure, and was sneezing. I'm still stuffy today and have crazy dry mouth. No fever or fatigue, though.
Yesterday I took a rapid antigen test so we can fly home today. Needless to say, I was worried, but it was negative. Son's test was negative, too, and he's been around me 24/7. He had similar symptoms to mine, just not as bad, on Sun and Mon.
Turns out cold-induced rhinitis has the exact symptoms as the mild version of this strain.
