Where is the huge spike in cases we were promised?

I wish that everyone in Texas would have gotten vaccinated this summer, so a lot more of them would be alive. We are 90% vaccinated where I live and delta has barely been a blip.

You mean the place where vaccines have been shown to keep people alive and out of the hospital?
Seems like Texas should have considered that.

Just two more weeks? R0 is falling in Israel, so you may have to wait a while.

But Israel seems to be an outlier. The UK is not having the same experience as Israel.
And I haven't been able to find what % of vaccinated Israelites are being hospitalized. Do you have that data?
Then how do you explain the huge spike in cases in the UK?SoupNazi2001 said:Jabin said:

Wait until winter for the UK it's seasonal. Israel is hot in the summer like TX so everyone is indoors.

It's a different thread, but the evidence for waning immunity is actually really weak right now.
The vaccine is less effective against delta, and it's really hard to deconvolute the two things. I don't think we should be rolling out boosters until there is a specific one for delta. (Israel is planning that for shot 4)
high vaccination rate does equal very very little issues. That is verifiable. It's the unvaccinated that are filling ICUs. Sad, and wish more would get vaxed. And I completely believe that mandates will only make things worse as it's the individual's personal decision how to handle this. To me, that trumps whether that might effect another person's situation in this particular situation. You're asking someone to put a vaccine into their body. To admonish or shame them for not feeling comfortable is a massive part of the issue....planoaggie123 said:amercer said:

Two more weeks is the daddy government metric...not mine.
We will see...but dont assume high vaccination rate = no issues.
Good question. My guess is that there are significantly different numbers for cases and hospitalizations but he failed to put or show both on the Y-axis. The point he is trying to make is the differences and separation of the curves in the two countries.planoaggie123 said:
What is that chart showing? How does Israel have more hospitalizations than cases for most of the period being shown? Am i mis-reading??

So the booster that our federal government is pushing is likely not needed as broadly as they said abouta month12 hours ago?

Fauci most certainly said it would likely happen. I guess since he said "likely" he didn't technically promise?gunan01 said:
No one promised a huge spike in cases. People were urged to be cautious.
Luckily most of these games were outdoors. It's very difficult (if not impossible) to catch COVID-19 outdoors even if people are stacked on top of each other.

Correct. Biden (like the government of Israel) is trying to do "something" about delta because approval ratings move in conjunction with the publics feelings about how the pandemic is going.
In the US we could improve things by getting the rest of adults their first shots. Israel already did that, so on to shot three for "doing something". It was won't hurt, but there isn't much evidence that it will help either.

Why does your graph stop in mid August? I know why. Do you?amercer said:
