Sure, no double blind, with control group studies anywhere yet says its 'proven'. Even the oft cited Peru study? Peru actually REMOVED Ivermectin from its covid protocol this year. This is exactly how election fraud conspiracy theories, as well as other batshi insane theories spread as well. People just spreading it on Twitter en masse.

We even know the genesis of the Ivermectin stuff from an Australian politician. If enough people make noise, it just overwhelms people and becomes truth.

I wouldn't waste your time. People test positive for weeks to months after infection. 10 days from symptom onset is considered free of COVID, regardless of test results.

Cant both be true? Maybe it works for some but not enough to be prescribed universally. Why isn't harm reduction medicine practice anymore? There is an entire aisle of the grocery store dedicated to bottled pills that have similar non-universal results. Some people respond to Airborne, St Johns wart, witch hazel, neti pots etc while others dont. But why wouldn't we try everything in our arsenal especially if the downside is minimal?

Day 6 (from Loss of Taste/Smell and Sinus Pressure):

Still can't taste or smell anything. Had leftover smoked salmon, iced coffee, raw broccoli and black cherry yogurt for a late breakfast yesterday. Lol.

Otherwise, nothing since Day 2. Very minor head cold symptoms late on Day 1. 6 out of 10 head cold symptoms through the first half of Day 2 (would have ignored if not for realizing I couldn't taste). Day's 3, 4, 5, and 6 have had zero symptoms outside of no taste/smell.

I did start taking ivermectin on Day 3. 15mg a day, for 5 days. Meh, why not?
Also taking a One-A-Day, Zinc (50mg), drinking plenty of Gatorade and water, and getting plenty of fresh air and sun in the backyard/patio.

So far, for me, very easy "sickness", fortunately. I've never really felt sick. Just the minor head cold/allergy feeling for 24ish hours. Hope it stays that way.

Glad you're doing well. I had COVID in April of 2020. Got vaccinated in March wife got vaccinated in April. She came home feeling bad on 8/30 tested positive 8/31. I started feeling sick Saturday took my vitamins and drank a ton of fluids and felt fine by game time thankfully. Tested positive Sunday and really just have the sinus issues like you were describing. Wife got taste and some smell back today and I haven't lost any yet. My first go around was definitely a lot worse. I spent 4 days in bed. Worst of it is being bored to tears sitting at home.

I know 2 people who ended up in the hospital because of COVID. Both went to the ER when it got bad and were sent home to let it run it's course. Both ended up back in the ER and admitted for multiple days due to developing pneumonia. One was my diabetic step-dad last year before the vaccine was available, the other was my vaccinated aunt, who got out of the hospital last Thursday. My step-dad would have died if my mom wasn't the squeaky wheel the hospital couldn't avoid because they tried to send him home rather than admitting him. They finally treated him and he was walking out a few days later.

I'm not saying ivermectin works or is the best treatment, but we're over a year and a half into this and the best treatment we have is time? Give me a break. Seems the medical community went all in on the vaccine and no other alternative treatments until it gets bad. I wonder how many people sitting in the hospital right now (both vaccinated and unvaccinated) could have avoided it if there were treatments offered when they first started having symptoms?

When both were tested my step-dad wasn't given anything. My aunt and uncle were given ivermectin and something else I can't remember. My uncle was fine after a couple days. When they both started having issues, they went to the ER, were "treated" (given O2) and sent home to get better. Both went back to the ER with pneumonia and were admitted about a week later. My aunt was treated the moment she was admitted because she's privately insured. My step-dad wasn't and my mom literally had a stroke arguing with the case manager because she was trying to push my step-dad out without treatment because he was on Medicare and back for what they "treated" him for the first time, so they weren't going to get paid.

Day 9… have felt fine this entire time. Had the sinus/congestion stuff on day 1 and 2. But pretty minor. Allergy-like. Otherwise, wouldn't have known I had it if not for the loss of taste/smell.

Isolating from family and not doing anything was the worst part for me.

Will look to do the Texas CARES deal after this. At this point, I'm glad I got it. This is no longer a "novel" virus for me and my body. Covid is essentially like any other cold/sickness for my immune system now.

I am not saying the hospital is right or wrong. This would frustrate the hell out of me as well.

That being said, I do find the rejection of medical advice, embrace of hair-brained treatments, and searching for health wisdom from former Fear Factor hosts turned shock-jock podcasters to all revolve around the belief that we can't live in a world where there is no good, easy answer.

From my understanding, this has pretty much always been the case with viruses. We don't have any silver bullet but we do have a very long history of snake oil salesman, damaging consumer products containing all sorts of crazy stuff, and financial incentives for folks trying to drum up quick and easy cures that don't have to work and may be damaging.

I try to remember that when docs say the theoretical downside of something like HCQ or Ivermectin may be small but are legitimate and the potential benefit seems oversold and likely non-existent.

Figured I'd add an anecdote to the board. I'll update as I progress.

I'm 33, male, 5'11" 170. No known health issues. Fully Vaxxed with Pfizer (in April-ish).

I visited my sister in law and 6 year old niece/nephew on the 22nd with my wife and two kids. Played in the pool and hung mainly outside.

Her kids got tested on 23rd. Positive result on 24th. I felt a sore throat on 25th. Meanwhile my daughter was sick with something (fever, fatigue, eye discharge). Turns out she had double ear infection and pink-eye, with a negative covid test on the 26th. Wife (with no symptoms) did a rapid test on 24th that was negative. And she got a PCR test on the 27th that was negative.

I did a rapid test on the 29th that was negative, but still had just a sore throat it would start around 9pm and stop about an hour after waking up. I figured ear infection (have had that before). Did a telehealth appt yesterday. They wanted to do a strep swab to rule it out. Did that, negative.

Then last night I got hit with congestion and sinus pressure which was new after over a week of sore throat. Then realized my IPA tasted like nothing. Dipping pretzels in Nutella was also tasteless outside of salt. Woke up today with a headache, congestion, and lots of sinus pressure behind eyes and under eyes. Tested with a few things and definitely don't have taste or smell. No sore throat though. Did a rapid test that immediately showed positive. At this point not sure if sore throat unrelated to covid or not?

My doc said she'd consider last night my "Day 1". Said no real treatments. They don't recommend ivermectin (and won't prescribe). I could do monoclonal antibodies but said more for high risk which I'm not. Said to treat symptoms and should be fine. If I feel chest pain, tightness, or have issues breathing let them know.

Worst part as of right now is not being able to go to the game this weekend. My 7 year old and I were so excited to go after not going to any last year; and for RWB out. Absolutely bummer. Broke my heart telling him we can't go.

Your Doctor is wrong on not being a home treatment. That's the problem the CDC/FDA/Whitehouse makes it all about the vaccine and there is no official patient/Doctor home guideline. The good news is a group of doctors like Dr. Peter McCullough have come up with a guideline that is backed by research. I'd print this out and share with your doctor. If they don't agree to follow the guideline then find a new doctor.
