My case is pretty mild all around other than I developed throat ulcers after the first couple of days. Very painful when swallowing anything, food or water. Started out just painful when swallowing, but now just constant pain. Does not impact breathing at all. I had a couple questions I'd see if anyone here could answer.
1) any chance this is a parallel issue and not covid related?
2) are there any treatment options (home remedies or doctor prescribed) other than just rest and time?
3) any signs that I should watch out for on those that would tell me I'm getting worse?

Somewhat related - I didn't get ulcers when I had covid. But a couple of summers ago I was bitten by a tick and got Colorado tick fever.

That virus knocked my on my butt, and one of the worst symptoms was the ulcers that developed on the inside of my lips. It was SO painful to eat and drink. I had to keep my lips pursed because even the slightest bit of pressure from my teeth was like torture. I was miserable for a few days, and all the times I've been sick with flu or strep, I've never had ulcers like that.

I tried to keep the area hydrated. Rubbing with ice gave temporary relief. I may have rubbed some Burt's Bees chapstick on the inside of my lips. Vaseline might help, but you can't put that in your throat. I also drank with a straw to minimize contact with the ulcers when drinking liquids.

I just assumed it was a "side effect" of the virus. My body was stressed and reacted in weird ways. Or maybe it was a secondary opportunistic bacterial infection. Either way, it cleared up once I started feeling better. That virus also gave me conjunctivitis in one eye and a rash that gradually spread from my face down my body.

Anytime my immune system is down my entire mouth and throat is covered it had me in the hospital a few years back for severe dehydration

1. Warm saltwater gargles all the time
2. healthcare providers can prescribe "magic mouthwash". It numbs things for a few minutes so you can eat/drink
3. Try getting a script for antiviral? Dr writes acyclovir for me.

Don't get dehydrated! You don't want to eat or drink but you have to force the fluids down

Acyclovir is the best thing for this. It takes a little time, especially after break-out, but will help.

Have you been to your doctor? If I were in your shoes, that's whose opinion I would seek.

Yeah, I talked to him a few days back, and he basically told me to just keep doing what I'm doing as long as I don't start having the really bad symptoms. But that was before the ulcers appeared. Just wasn't sure if it was worth even trying to reach out to him again or if he was just gonna tell me to keep doing what I'm already doing.
