Is it possible? Anybody know first hand of such a situation.

My wife has had covid twice. Oct 2020 and April 2021 both relatively mild. Normal mild covid symptoms. Was tested both times and also tested for positive for antibodies in June. She was exposed again last Wednesday sitting next to two positives for over an hour. (I'm totally assuming Delta but have no idea for certain). She is experiencing symptoms again today approximately 6 days after exposure. Body aches, sore back, slightest of cough right now.

Is she vaccinated? I also had a sore lower back whenever I had covid.

I have someone who works for me whose son has had it twice now. This last time he had to go to the hospital, but has been released now.

We will all likely get it multiple times, just like all other Corona viruses.

Seems like it.

With natural immunity to the older variants it likely will be a very mild infection. Data out of Israel shows natural immunity is superior to vaccine for Delta protection.

Yep just like the flu.

Honestly..the only real challenge for doctors will not be immunity, but ways to regain the sense of smell/taste if those continue to stick with this illness as we move forward.

That was the only really annoying part for me.

Maybe that will help with weight loss in some patients!

Just joking-- well kinda.

I understand, but the significance here is three times within a 12 month period. I don't think that is normal. I don't hear about people getting the flu three times within a 12 month.

Are you sure it was Covid and not the common cold? PCR tests can't discriminate, maybe it's possible that she just had a cold.

The wife and I had covid right after Thanksgiving last year which was very mild. She had a bad headache for one afternoon and lost her sense of smell for a week or so. I was just really fatigued and felt like I'd been beaten with a baseball bat. We've both been exposed several times since then, in close contact, with no symptoms.

But, it's fairly possible both of us got it last week again. First, we were around my parents (both 72 and fully vaccinated) but my old man tested positive for a breakthrough case after we saw them (he's fine- said it felt like allergies or a sinus infection for a couple days and was tired). Then on Monday, 8/2 my wife spent several hours in close proximity to one of her subordinates at work in a meeting in a relative small office. On Wednesday, 8/4 that subordinate was down with covid (she's recovered). Then on like Thursday & Friday last week (8/5-8/6) the wife said she felt really fatigued and had a headache (she chalked it up to being on her period) and I had what felt like seasonal allergies. She just went to bed a little earlier than normal and it didn't stop me from doing my normal routine or any of my workouts.

We're both 100% now and neither of our boys have had any symptoms whatsoever (one just turned 11 in July and the other will be 7 later this month).

Each time should be less and less(for the vast majority of people). Maybe not even at all.

yeah, I don't think that is true. The diagnostic tests check for cross-reactivity to other viruses. For example this one was tested for cross reactivity to many different viruses, including SARS, MERS, and human coronavirus 229E and HKU1.

The way I read this is, you have the sniffles, headache, lethargy, cough. Stay home or power thru it. Keep living. This is getting old.

Yes. 2/3 of coronaviruses and 100% that have spread as much as SARS CoV2. Are you suggesting it won't be common for years to come? If not, you're just arguing for no reason.

Nope. I was objecting to the "all other coronaviruses".

Niece and her husband have tested positive 3 times over the past 16 months. Not vaccinated and had minimal symptoms.

Supposedly, depending on the sensitivity of the test, people can test positive for months from the same initial infection and not have any symptoms.

Take home test negative.

Did PCR today as she still has symptoms. Waiting on PCR results.

Quick update:

PCR Negative...but more interestingly the anti-body results....She tested positive (PCR) back in April and was down and out for several days. She was anti-body tested in June, which was positive as you would expect. She was anti-body tested again yesterday here in mid-August, but it came back Negative...hmmmmm.

Was not expecting a negative anti-body test that quickly from April to now, and no anti-bodies? Does that seem correct?
ORAggieFan

Doesn't seem too crazy. It's about B and T cells more than antibodies.

I've seen variable results when testing IgG for capsid antibodies 6 months post infection. Some still positive some not. I believe that is why we still have no good data on how long post infection immunity lasts, it is highly variable and unpredictable.

I am going to do an updated antibody finger p*ick test tomorrow. If I test positive, would you still currently recommend getting a vaccine as a booster or wait?

Can this be tested for? Will there be a way eventually to know whether our T and B cell memory show that we had it?
