God bless you doc! I can't imagine what you've been going through.

I have to admit that this post moved me to the verge of tears. Not sure why it hit me quite so hard but it definitely shook me up. There is some serious future PTSD potential from going through something like that.

I hope all believers will join me in praying for your physical and mental health, for some peace in the midst of the storm for you and others like you, and that you will continue to be a help and a comforting presence to your patients.

It's interesting to see the emerging trend to not treat COVID19 patients just like ARDS patients.

Wonderful post and a dose of needed perspective for those of us not on the front lines. I said a prayer for you and your family.

I read you post to my wife. You have a few words that I never use in my vocabulary and some words that I have never seen and mispronounced terribly. My wife just grabbed my phone and started reading it herself.
We are, as stated above, frightened and heartbroken by your post and hope that you persevere through this. We are blessed that there are medical staff all over this country who are giving all they have to keep us well, save our lives, and mourn our losses.

As much as the doc's post got to me, this one hit me even harder.

God bless you, CV. The world needs more good hearts like yours and less selfish people.

Strong work. Hopefully when your world begins to quiet you will have some great down time with family in whatever way you want to spend it. No one talks about the after for the docs on the front lines. While volunteers are welcome now, they will be needed more after all of this. It is unreasonable to expect docs to pick up, move forward, and just continue their practices. There should be 3 - 6 month paid leave in my opinion. Will that solve everything? No, but it can give each doc time to assess where they are when it becomes a manageable illness that coexists among the many other disease we see.

As for those of us who have been fortunate to not see too much of the disease, thank you, both to you and the other docs who come on here to post their experience. In the absence of an M&M conference these boards/posts provide valuable information as we bounce our therapeutic successes and failures off each other in real time. Incidentally, while they don't post on here that I know of, thanks to to the Italian docs. So many sacrificed their lives and so many more shared their experiences. It wasn't until they sent the alert did many of us realize what we might be facing.

I just wish everyone could read your words and take a little perspective about what you face every day vs. what they are dealing with. As bad as most people think they have it, in almost every case it pales to what you face and see every day.

Very sobering perspective, I hadn't heard of all the complications for those that do survive.
Thank you for being there with the patients and providing not only treatment, but also the words of comfort and encouragement their families aren't able to. As hard as it must be for you try to find time to take care of yourself so you can eventually get to enjoy time with your family.
