Does anyone have any evidence that there's a growing backlog of tests that are not being performed because more people are requesting testing than can be tested?

Daily count of tests does not equal total capacity.

I get that over testing would help identify asymptomatic carriers. We aren't requiring people that are not sick or even people that are sick to get the test. How would we do that? Who needs to right now leave their home and go get a test? How did you identify that person?

If fewer people are getting sick, but the same percentage of people infected are seeking tests, we will see demand for the test fall while our capacity may still be rising.

Again, because we are not forcing people to get tests that are not asking for it.

I'm sure this varies widely by location but some places just aren't testing still for various reasons. I know 2 in MS who tried and could not get tested. One was a child that was taking Tylenol to control his fever. Since he did not present with greater than 100.4 he was refused a test. The other went to the hospital for SOB and was sent home because the O2 stats were not bad enough, also not given a test.
