How do you feel about LA extending to May 15?

I know it can be an unpopular opinion, but I don't mind it. In fact, I fully expect it to be extended 'til the end of May, and then we finally lift it on June 1. It'll be hell on the economy, but if we lift too soon, and have to do this all over again come July or so, it's going to be worse, so I'd rather hunker down now and do whatever it takes to avoid that.

All we're doing now is buying time for testing infrastructure and progress on therapeutics

outside of that a second and third and fourth wave is inevitable

I don't want to bog down this thread with arguing, but I'm talking about avoiding a second shut down, not a second wave. If we get the numbers low enough now, we *do* likely avoid additional shut downs, and instead weather the additional waves with practical social distancing measures while keeping things open and running.

Yeah, this is still going to hit again, but just put us in a position where hospitals are prepared for it and can treat effectively as possible and I think a good chunk of the economy can get back into play.

Large events, I just don't see happening though.

Agreed. Without an effective treatment, large gatherings aren't happening for a long while.

Yeah, I was wondering that too. Did she not see her family for 2 weeks, or are they possibly asymptomatic?

I probably should have said they either didnt catch it or could have been asymptomatic. When she tested positive they quarantined her in the master bedroom, obviously she was contagious before that for several days so they and several other family members had a chance to catch it and either they did not or were asymptomatic. Either way It was good to know they didnt get sick and she is alright

Yeah, I know this is "one of those stories" but my buddy knows a family that the oldest son had the 3-4 days of no taste and no smell, with some minor congestion after a spring break trip to Chicago as a family. He quarantined in the house for 2 weeks and no one else showed any symptoms.

This same buddy was with most of his family in Colorado during spring break when it all went down there and they all quarantined in their house when they got back, but no one has symptoms so either lucky or more weirdness.

Officially, no. BUT Trump made a reference to "my friend" who had recovered at his presser yesterday.
