Hey everyone - you can reply directly to a person without including the text from their post. Staff cleaned up the post and yet I see it four more times in quotes (which I'm sure staff can take care of, but don't create work for them).

Seems to be less good news these past couple of days. Fog of war?

To me we have a wealth of potential good news. Just need to get caught up on testing AND get a consensus on treatment protocol.

No, I don't believe that. I think Trump is a boss enough to play this through April, maybe halfway through may, but he's going to pull the cord at some point.

Good news thread!

One of the most vulnerable people who are at increased risk of experiencing the most severe symptoms of the Coronavirus those over the age of 70.
But there have been some encouraging and heartwarming stories of elderly people making recoveries after being hospitalised with Covid-19.
In Oregon, USA, WW2 veteran William Lapschie celebrated his 104th birthday this week, after recently making a recovery from Coronavirus.
In Genoa, Italy a 102-year-old woman survived the illness, according to reports. In Iran, a 103-year-old woman has also reportedly made a recovery after spending a week in hospital.

The change in half a day is so dramatic, I wonder if it is legit or a glitch. I was tracking Louisiana, which looked like the next NY/Armageddon, and now they are saying "eh, it's nothing." I hope it is right, just shocked how they can flip so fast on Louisiana.

They hadn't updated since it had been posted (late March) and when I tracked number of beds for Texas, they had estimated 2500 on April 4th and we were at 827...seems legit

The numbers on that site fluctuate a fair amount. A week ago it was 83k dead in the US, then it was 93k, now it's 81k.
But if the numbers continue to fall, or even don't get worse, it is a huge credit to the sacrifices we all made to get us there. Will be a pretty remarkable achievement by the country honestly. Unchecked, it was literally going to kill millions, to talk less than 100k is really welcome news, and why the stock market is on fire today (good news from Europe, NY, etc on numbers).

I was watching that site, and it mentioned that they would have an update on Saturday that didn't show up until today. I am hopeful that means they were scrubbing their data and double checking with better info. There's plenty of garbage out there, can't imagine what trying to sort through the noise would be like at this point.

Peak has been moved up by about a week for everyone. Deaths drop for everyone. Spot checking a few worrisome states, it looks like everyone should be ok with normal hospital beds except NY. ICU beds will be an issue in NY, FL and LA. Texas is in incredibly great shape. Caveat is on the top of those pages. "COVID-19 projections assuming full social distancing through May 2020"


All in all very good news.
