My mother is 98, resides in a senior living facility, and tested + 8 days ago which was right at 14 days after her first vaccination. I was able to get her started on day 3 on the 5 supplements with agreement from her Dr. Just got off a zoom call with her and she says she feels fine. All vitals are good and no fever or any symptoms. We are praying that she continues on this path. She has always been very healthy, strong Polish/Russian lady. Her grandfather, my great grandfather lived to be 106. Thanks to all the Drs posting, the value of your advice is tremendous.

I am praying for her!
Update: Had a Zoom this morning, day 15...she is doing great. No symptoms, out of isolation and saying she wishes she could go outside and shovel the snow (the facility where she lives is just east of Pittsburgh Pa). Thank you for the prayers.

I'm going to a Post Covid clinic in Temple at Baylor Scott & White started last week. Still having some breathing issues from Covid. Doctor says operating around 65 % lung capacity. Still have inflammation of the heart Myocarditis and at times my heart rate still gets high arrhythmia and I'll get chest pains. Still wearing the wireless monitor.

Still get migraines get so bad nothing works and at times will make me see blurry and colors. Learned a new term as doctor call that migraines with Aura. Occasional fevers low grade still at times. Brutal body aches and fatigue tramadol helps take the edge off some but still brutal. Don't know yet if I'll have any permanent long term issues yet.

I appreciate everyone thoughts and prayers. At one point I really thought it might get me especially when I was in and out of the hospital

I, all of us, certainly hope you recover very soon.

You said you are being treated at a post Covid clinic. So, are the conditions you listed after effects of the virus? You are negative for Covid?

And I'm sorry you are probably missing one of your passions as this is stock show season.

Yea these conditions I also had during Covid. The clinic says it's common to carry these conditions over which they call post Covid complications.

Yea I've missed a lot of work but had to use my vacation, sick leave, emergency Covid sick leave and FMLA.

Wife and my parents helping the kids with Stockshows and show steers. I also haven't been able to do any Baseball either as I'm a Director with the Banditos outside my regular job

Doc, I read Scientific American report stating a single dose of Moderna vaccine resulted in 80% efficacy and no severe infections. They also stated you should get your second dose yet there is no proven urgency to get it by day 28. In fact they reported it may prove more effective by delaying a few extra weeks. We have had our second shots postponed in College Station. We are now concerned about not receiving them within the 42 day window.
What are you thoughts? Sincerely appreciate all you are doing. '74 Ag

The clinical trials tested ~28 days between. Thus, that is all the data we have and don't have data on waiting longer.

The way this works is the immune system learns how to respond from the first shot and that learning is reinforced with the second shot. For the most part, there is more risk of the second shot not working from getting it too soon vs too late.

The risk of delayed vaccine is more about a risk of getting COVID before getting the second dose. However, your risk is ~1/5 of what it was before your first shot. If you continue to take the normal COVID precautions (masks, 6ft distance, minimize exposure), you should be fine, even if the second dose is delayed several months.

I thought zinc needed an ionophore such as quercetin or HCQ to be effective? Seems like they give us studies with missing components.

I thought same thing - no Quercetin and no Vitamin D? Just looked at C and Zinc.
Just like earlier HCQ studies that didn't include zinc.
I trust Rev's advice because he has seen so much anecdotal evidence that C and Zinc help when combined with a couple other treatments.

Not completely surprising considering that they had no Zinc ionophore to get zinc inside the cell. Also Vitamin C so far has only shown benefit when using high dose IV form.

I m curious about the vaccines. All the talking heads on TV say that you should "get a vaccine" regardless of which one. I read this and other info and it seems to me like the Pfizer vaccine is the one of choice. It seems like it has as good or better results than the Modera and Modern has far more and worse reactions to the second shot.

The new Johnson & Johnson vaccine is better in one respect in that it is easier to transport and you only need one. It does however not have as good results. It almost guarantees that you wont have a severe case get it, but far less effective at keeping you from getting Covid at all. I would prefer to NOT get the virus at all.

I am getting chemo currently so my Dr. says no vaccine for me and I have to be stay in the house for the duration so I am just asking for when I do have to get the shot(s). Wife was fortunate and is getting her second Pfizer shot tomorrow.

What am I getting wrong?
All organizations are perfectly aligned for the results they get.

From what I've been reading (please correct me if I'm wrong) the J&J vaccine data being compared is across 3 different countries (here, Brazil, and South Africa) and includes some of the newer variants while the Moderna and Pfizer data is from the US trials, and if you look at the same data sets the effectiveness is much closer.

Talking to my wife's doc last week he said he expects most people to end up getting Moderna due to it's less stringent storage needs.

What is the recommendation:

I took Dr. Reveille's vitamins and supplements pre-Covid, then I got Covid (kept taking vitamins and supplements and added the Pepcid and baby aspirin). Once I recovered from Covid, I stopped taking the vitamins and supplements (as indicated by Dr. Reveille), and just take my regular multi-vitamin and D3.

I'm almost 90 days past Covid, and I'm wondering if I should resume Dr. Reveille's pre-Covid vitamins and supplements once the "90 days of likely 'immunity'" is up?

Most of my patients have had antibodies till about 6 months. I would think it would be very unlikely to get sick again in under 6 months and if you did it would most likely be minimal as you should still have a significant immune response to the virus. Thus, the supplements are probably not necessary again yet. You might take them for a week if you get exposed or do some high risk activities but for the most part you should be ok.

I have posted on the Got Covid thread a number of times regarding my Covid experience, but wanted to check in with those who may still be experiencing symptoms long after testing negative.

I was diagnosed Dec. 12th and had a fairly moderate case for the entire two weeks. My fever was quite high and I experienced severe leg pain.

For a couple months I experienced extreme fatigue and muscle weakness (especially in my legs) For awhile it was even difficult to walk.

I am feeling much better now, though I still tire easily.

I recently started experiencing small muscle twitches throughout my body. Almost like an eye twitch when you are overly tired. Most of the twitches are in my lower extremities though they will occasionally pop up in my arms, a finger, etc.

During they day when I'm active I don't notice this as much, but in the evening it is driving me crazy. It's continuous.

I have a follow up with my primary care in a couple of weeks.

I started back to work only part time a few weeks ago. I tried full days, but it was too much as I am on my feet all day.

Not sure if this is post Covid related, but I am curious if any of you have experienced this?

Prob silly question....Does it matter which arm the second shot goes in? I only ask because the first shot was in the right arm and the second shot will be a drive thru so it will prob be in the left arm.

No it doesn't.
As far as efficacy, it doesn't matter. However, in the imaging literature it has been recommended to have the 2nd vaccine in the same arm as some patients will develop lymphadenopathy (swollen lymph nodes) after the vaccine, which can be picked up on mammography and PET scans in particular. Having the injections in the same arm makes it less confounding if the patient develops adenopathy. If it is suspected to have resulted from the vaccine, followup imaging after several weeks can be obtained to see if it is resolving or it may be evident clinically if the nodes are easily felt initially.
