Also, here's some very recent imagery of the flood that you can swipe to see before and after of most of West Houston and the Briar Forest subdivision - Tab 4 shows N. Kirkwood at Buffalo Bayou and surrounding area. Houston Flood 2017 Imagery Swipe Map

Does anyone know if Fondren or Gessner is open North of Westpark toll road between Beltway 8 and Briar Forest or Westheimer? I'm guessing Fondren/Piney Point stops at Westheimer due to crossing Buffalo Bayou.
Fondren and Gessner are open from Westpark north to Westheimer. Fondren/Piney Point Dr last I checked was blocked at the river open only to neighborhood traffic. Not sure on Gessner.

Mayor has just asked everyone to leave the area west of Gessner and south of I-10. If you have water in your home, nothing will change over the next 10-14 days. They will continue to release the water from Addicks so leaving will free up resources to be used elsewhere, like firemen, police, etc.

So devastating for people everywhere.

My brother is in Briar Forest and just got back into his house. Neighbor texted him the water had gone down. Haven't followed up with him since this morning. He was just going over to assess damage and start cleaning, not stay.

Tried to make it down Kirkwood and Wilcrest this morning.

Kirkwood is passable with a large truck between Westheimer and Briar Forest but is still impassable between Briar Forest and Memorial.

Wilcrest is open between Westheimer and Briar Forest but is also impassable between Briar Forest and Memorial.

Also, Briar Forest headed west past Kirkwood is still flooded once you reach Mossy Stone.

Clarification on the evac: only being asked to leave if there is currently water in your house. If you're in the area and dry then you are ok to stay

Additional clarification on area: from Hwy 6 to Gessner, I-10 down to Briar Forest...only if you have water in your house...as was indicated above.

The flooded area may get a bit ripe after a few days, so others may CHOOSE to leave as well.

Correct on the clarification. So if there is water in your home already, it ain't going down. I tried to get to my friend's house yesterday and it was on lock down.

Nottingham Forest water level has dropped 4-5 inches per day the past couple days.

Parents house is between Kirkwood & Dairy Ashford. They had ~18'' early Wednesday morning. Now below 10''. Also if you follow the Buffalo Bayou gauge at Dairy Ashford it runs in line with what we have measured in the neighborhood.

Anyone know why there is standing water at Westheimer@Eldridge? Doesn't seem to be close to an obvious source of flooding?

Water got within 18 inches of our house. We are at 63.8 ft above Buffalo Bayou between Piney Point and Voss. We are the highest point on the north side of BB along that stretch.

Water levels have dropped since Wednesday and the same place they were Tuesday at 4:30.

Us and the house next to us didn't flood. Almost Ll others along the bayou took in water.

Currently have over 84 inches of retaining wall between Buffalo Bayou and our yard.

NOAA shoes Buffalo has created, too.

Scary going to bed with Buffalo Bayou 40 ft below your house and waking up to the water 3 bricks from your house.

Kirkwood and waldemar area.

We had some significant leaking and the carpet has been soaked. I've been getting it with towels as much as I can.

Ours is out at Westheimer and Hayes as well. Pretty large outage it seems, so maybe they'll be on it quick.

Pretty sure it's coming through the storm drains/ sewers. This area is not in the inindation map. Good news is that the drainage seems to be accelerating.

Storm sewers are backing up. You are probably in border between Bray watershed and Buffalo Bayou watershed.

It's a push back from one of the two. Kirkwood issue is because the street base sucks, and parts have sunken below the drainage.
Tom Cardy

Yeah Jeff Lindner said that it could be based on elevation and the underground drainage. Westheimer is definitely lower elevation than Briar Forest
