Talked to a buddy of mine who lives on Indian Creek in Wilchester (west of Wilcrest), which is the first street north of the bayou. How in the hell were those homes not flooded???

He said it just got to the curb and that no one in their section (south of memorial, west of wilcrest, east of southchester) flooded. I don't understand how that's possible.
Wife and I just got out and took some photos, not much but we didnt want to be in the way any longer

Chimney Rock is open. Just very crowded. It was faster for me to actually go to 610. Everything else was closed this morning.
Spent the last two days picking people up on that street. Glad to hear they're ok.
Just checked on a buddy's house on Bramblewood between Greenpark and Pinesap. Got as far as Greenpark and River Forest and had to kayak in. Water 3' in the street with a strong current moving from west to east on Bramblewood and then south on Greenbelt and Quail Grove toward Buffalo Bayou. He is on the north side of Bramblewood and I estimated the water was 2 feet at one time and is now down to about 18" in the house.
Made it home. Anyone in the area need assistance?

Parents were finally picked up by boat near Riverview and Heathwood in Briar Forest. All happened within an hour, and ended up at a friends place about a mile south. They had heard the power may go out there soon for a while, so decided to get out now. If it's any indication, the water behind St. John Vianney church dropped a foot since yesterday. Fiesta on dairy ashford and westheimer open, no lines. Fairly stocked, fruit and veg, meat, too.
What does that mean for the flooding? Do y'all think it will increases and rise up?
No increases, but only minimal decreases. Projection for the gauge at bw8 shows steady through at least Tuesday.
Basically it's going to be where it is now for the most part, maybe slight rises or drops over that 10-15 day timeframe.
I hope even the slight drops are enough to clear up westheimer.

That's my read from what they're saying. I'm just hoping I can get the truck through the high water tomorrow. I figure 2-3" more and I should be safe. No way the car could go.
So where is Westheimer undriveable? Just eldridge to kirkwood?

They need to decrease the release for one day to give downstream some relief, what is one more day that Barker or Addicks will stay full when they already are.
Rusty- I believe the issue is that there is still a lot of water flowing into the reservoirs. So if they don't release it for a day there could be uncontrolled releases. I do think they need to look at decreasing it a little more. But I'm guessing they have done the calculations.
The other issue is if it rains again next week it will flood very easy if they don't keep draining.

Sorry to hear that, but yeah, basically any entrance south of memorial has water in front of it from what we saw.

Here's the river gage at Buffalo Bayou and Dairy Ashford. Going down, but slowly. This should preface any decrease in water levels in Briar Forest.

Yes I'd say to everyone who has flooded: once your house has receded, on your cleanup day post the area of your house and you'll undoubtedly have some Texags fairies magically show up to help with your cleanup. Cleaning with a crew of 5-7 is much better and faster than 2-3.
That offer is extended to everyone else in the area too
I'm going to be trying to get out and see if there is anyone that I can help do cleanup tomorrow. Have some friends down in Pearland that needed help, but have to find out how far along they are. We'll have a couple weeks of cleanup in this area I'm sure...
Very kind offer to help, but we were fortunate overall. No flood waters in my house.
I love seeing all of the positivity and generosity on here. I hope many of you have been able to have some time to be with friends or family and relax, even if just for a little while, now that the worst appears to be over. My family had that chance this evening and it has made a world of difference in our outlook.

Not trying to be a downer but there is thepossibikity of another hurricane hitting the gulf coast next week. They need to get rid of all the water they can given that risk.

Made it this morning (8/31) - Looks like they had received a fresh round of supplies, lines weren't too bad. The only things in limited quantity were milk, eggs, and bread - limited to one per shopper.
We will be coming in from college Station this weekend to bring mom in law back...if anyone needs anything, please let me know!

Can anyone tell me if Sandy Springs road is still flooded? I'm at a shelter and need to know if it's safe to return and begin clean up. -Rita
Does anyone know if Fondren or Gessner is open North of Westpark toll road between Beltway 8 and Briar Forest or Westheimer? I'm guessing Fondren/Piney Point stops at Westheimer due to crossing Buffalo Bayou.
