I echo this. Waiting for the other shoe to drop while the sun is shining is tough sledding.

Anyone know about the Waldemare area? We are on Roundlake specifically?

On a side note we are coming in from Dallas tomorrow, let me know if you need supplies.

I agree in general with you sentiment. I don't doubt they are doing their best but their estimate missed that streets would be flooded by the storm drains. That unfortunately causes one to question the other decisions. They need to not increase the discharge, and really should reduce it until they can determine the impact. The situation has stabilized, there are no uncontrolled releases to be brought back into control, and the overflow has been done.

frustrating no doubt.

They just said the flood boundary on the southside is Briar Forest. I believe you're one street over. How is your street looking?

Unfortunately the people who are conveying information are pretty high level, and they likely are not very knowledgeable of the details; "They don't know what they don't know". Thats the first premise of Risk Management.

I would be willing to bet there is a Design Engineer, or someone in the local ACoE, that understands the water shed designations, the laterals, streams, channels and bayous and how the street storm sewers tie into this intricate network. And what the likely impact scenarios are. But that individual (or group) isn't allowed to prepare any facts for the upper level person - - TMI, if you will.

The reporters heads would explode trying to sort through that river of detail. And would they mis-report what was revealed? Nah, not a chance...

Walnut Bend update - my FIL and MIL waded to SILs house on Sugar Hill and miraculously no water in their house yet. Water was more than halfway up front yard but their house is on a pretty high elevation compared to neighbors. They might get lucky too early to tell. Based on pics they sent my wife I'm guessing they could handle less than 2' rise before water at the door. They moved as much stuff as they could onto countertops and at least 3' above the floor just in case. They had to be taken out by boat to get out of Walnut Bend.

Cab,

Ashford Village is in the Buffalo Bayou watershed. Rummel Creek is NORTH of Buffalo, and a tributary to Buffalo. I think much of AV drains to the Crystal Hills lateral, and on to Buffalo.

If Briar Forest is the stated salt line for the rise, I am not sure I believe it. The Storm lines are 6'-8' below street level. I think that's why Kirkwood is ~2' deep at Westheimer...everything is running down there.

5 yrs ago, they ripped up a lot of streets in here to put in new storm line runs, and I thought the byline was that they were tying it into Braes watershed, which is just south of Westheimer. And, from Grey Falls to Dairy Ashford, Westheimer to Overbrook, IS in the Braes watershed.

Charlie,

Just checked, Roundlake is dry, both sides.

Stay away from Kirkwood, come in Grey Falls.

That is good news! Water @ Beech is below the street level by about 1' (you can see it standing in the catch basin).

Anyone know how bad the flooding was along country place drive just south of nottingham park between Kirkwood/Dairy Ashford?

Got a buddy who has a place there and hasn't made it back to town yet to check on things. He was curious. Any info on how bad it got there/current conditions is appreciated

Nothing has been reported, but the problem may be getting to it. Memorial Dr is showing clear, but side streets are flooding. They are building a dam at I-10 to keep water off the pavement, and feeder roads were flooded. I pulled this from U-Flood

Impassible. Has gone up under an inch since this morning. Basically holding steady though.

Asking for Forest Home Dr. just Northwest of St. John Paul and West Briar Middle School. This morning it was dry, but I heard water may be going further up. Anyone nearby know how it is?

Thanks to everyone on this thread for their posts. I'm up in Calgary Canada, and my parents are still in their house at Riverview and Heathwood. North of there is a lot of water (towards the Bayou). Boats have gone up and down their street evacuating folks that want/need to leave. The water is above their sidewalk, but would have to go up another 3 feet to get into their house. Any current pics or updates on this area are appreciated! Way to go Ags!

How have the briar forest/Westchase folks fared this afternoon? Any water higher in areas than this morning or new unflooded areas now having water?

Anybody know what Ashford Parkway and Briar Forest looked like? Asking for the landlord of our old house.

Was out most of the day helping get people out of their homes but never made it that way.

My dad lives just down the street from them on Riverview. I just picked him up after he ended up trying to walk out of there. Luckily, someone picked him up and gave him a lift through the flood waters to where I was at Dairy Ashford and Briar Forest. Water was almost up to his house and he was out of food before he'd listen to my brother and I and agree to leave. It's like a lake right there right now.

My vet clinic is at Kirkwood and Westheimer. The water is pretty high (1-2') on the road, creeping into my parking lot. We are high and dry, but inaccessible from Kirkwood. Thankfully, we were able to access via Westheimer to take care of some pets staying with us. Westheimer at Kirkwood to Shadowbriar to Dairy Ashford to Eldridge was pretty deep in spots when I left around 4:30.

By the way I never smelled sewage. I think they are confusing storm sewer with sanitary sewer.

From Ashford Village:

Briar Forest clear between Nova, East to Woodland Park. Kirkwood holding water North and South of Briar Forest.

Westheimer holding water from Shadowbriar west, on the Westbound lane. East bound appears clear. From Kirkwood, looks clear east past Wilcrest.

Essentially, same status as of yesterday afternoon, except for Westheimer flooding east of Dairy Ashford.

Gas may become critical for everybody as well. Every gas station we have driven by, or through, has the handles booted, "Out of Order". Mostly due to access, I realize, but some of the biggest refineries on the Gulf were shut down, and may still be shut down.

Has anyone located a gas station that is actually selling?

Also...would appreciate names of good Realtors in that area...preferably an Aggie. While her house didn't flood or sustain any damage, mom in law has had enough of hurricanes and may finally be ready to sell and move to the hill country!
