I live in Wilchester and saw this map last night; we are just north of the blue stuff on Pinerock. I'm not sure what it means, but we already have water up a third of yard.

Does this suggest the neighborhood will have water in the streets or will all these houses now flood? I thought Linder said this morning that no additional houses would flood that didn't previously flood.
For what it's worth, this map was distributed to me yesterday, probably around the time you got it. At that time it was a model of an expected inundation, but obviously it's just a model. They guy I got it from yesterday has a direct line to Flood Control, and this morning he spoke with his contact again and was told that the impacts would likely be less than projected in the map circulated yesterday. I'm on Pinerock just east of you and it doesn't make much sense that you guys were rising and our storm drain wasn't. Don't y'all flood to Rummel just like us? Rummel is rising per the flood gauge: https://www.harriscountyfws.org/GageDetail/Index/2280?span=1%20Hour&v=surfaceBox

Water starting to trickle out of inlets on Kimberley near Memorial in Thornwood. Ponding in front of those houses up to curb. Most of street still ok but water is definitely still rising unlike the projections.

From Briar Forest, going East, got as far as Woodlands Pkwy. Emergency vehicles there. It may be passable, but...

Kirkwood North of Briar forest is impassable. They have boats and high axle trucks pulling people out of the Apts, and possibly neighborhood to west.

We are becoming a city of islands...

Mikey- what part of Thornwood? This only flooding we've seen is at La Quinta. I'm at Pinesap which is two streets in from Dairy Ashford.

Buffalo Bayou gauge at Dairy Ashford has held steady for several hours. Do we anticipate that it has crested?

SeMg -

We're picking up an Aggie off Hunting Briar to take him to A&M tomorrow - he has no ride. Is that area navigable?

Also have a friend whose home is on Holly Springs off Wilcrest/Briar Forest and sent a pic of his home underwater. I'd like to go check on that this afternoon.

Yes. I'm coming from Beltway/Kempwood - I'm hoping Beltway is open all the way there to either to 59/69 or Westpark Tollway.

Just drove Wilchester and Wilchester West during lunch. They are starting to get street flooding on a number of streets from water coming from the curb inlets. Extent of the flooding seems to be based a lot on elevation.

The water at Wilcrest and Memorial has come up significantly since last night. They are launching a lot of boats from that point.

Dre, everything east of Thornbranch along Kimberley including side streets are fine. Water coming down Thornbranch from the north about 3 houses but right at curb level which is about one house more than yesterday.

Hunting Briar appears 5o be way south of Westheimer, around Bissonnet. Can not help you on that.

Holly Springs is in Walnut Bend, where we had friends evacuate this morning. They lived on Longmont, first street in. I suspect you need a boat and truck to get there. They have a N-S lateral on the East side that goes to Buffalo Bayou. I doubt you can get in there.

Sorry.

Me wife and I walked out of country village with our three daughters under 5 and 85 lb lab mix. Had to walk a across the street in a few feet of water. Then walked out of few blocks through yards. Water was still rising and this was at 9

My family member is on Crankbrook (3-blocks North) at Bayou Cove Ct. Bayou Cove and east on Cranbrook has had homes with < 1'-foot water since Sunday. He is just west of Bayou Cove and was dry until this morning. They have ~6" as of this morning. He just left on a flat bottom boat. Not sure about power. Seems to be a crap shoot all over that neighborhood.

I guess tell your SIL to pray for the best but prepare for water in the house. Your SIL is a bit further south from the Buffalo Bayou, but a foot or more elevation could make all the difference in there right now.

Family member said he saw nothing crazy like up above the front door, but lots of homes have water in there.

EDIT: I'm talking about Walnut Bend LANE (not Drive)...but I assume you mean the same street??

We will try that route! Hate it for my friend on Holly Springs. He can't even fly into Houston until Saturday.

Looks like the most recent update continues the trend of minimal rises from 6 to Dairy Ashford, and bigger rises as you go east from Dairy Ashford

No we're still outside of the water for now @ Westmere / Valley Vista. Route out of the neighborhood still available via Kirkwood south to Westheimer as of a few hours ago. Will probe again and see what's what soon

Thanks to whoever asked if I need help. I am safe, just ultra paranoid about water going into my house.

I know Jeff Lindbergh is just working with what he has and this is unprecedented but he was grossly off by his expectations of this area last night. They need to be pessimistic not optimistic in their foood expectations. Their flood map for today is very misleading and caudibgvsligvif people tibhave to be rescued now.

It's very hard to be them right now for sure. How do you order an evacuation without causing a panic and clogging the few remaining roads that are open in the area? There is no access to I-10 for anyone south of Buffalo Bayou, and some roads to the south are having flooding too.

It's an all around bad situation to be in for everyone. No matter what they choose, someone gets screwed because there isn't a winning option.

ID,

Our friends were on Longmont, and they left @ 9:30 am, with water just over the curbs.

Lakeside Estates Dr., just West of Walnut Bend, was clear to Westheimer this morning.

Is everything off the floor? Do you have power?

I agree in general with you sentiment. I don't doubt they are doing their best but their estimate missed that streets would be flooded by the storm drains. That unfortunately causes one to question the other decisions. They need to not increase the discharge, and really should reduce it until they can determine the impact. The situation has stabilized, there are no uncontrolled releases to be brought back into control, and the overflow has been done.

I think I'm just frustrated as we made it through the storm and had started to move around and figure out how to move forward when the situation unexpectedly regressed and for some people is worse than during the storm. We are back to where we were a couple days ago.
