I'm at Kirkwood and Briarforest, Ashford Village.

Just took a drive around. Streets starting to fill in at low spots, the drainage ditch off of Buffalo Bayou still has some breathing room but could use a break, like everywhere. Just about every crossing of the Bayou is impassable, there's a few trucks and constables keeping an eye out if anyone gets in trouble.

The Kroger at Briarforest / Dairy Ashford is operational and appears to still have Gas and has restocked.

Big Johns Icehouse is open and had food.

I'm at Eldridge and Briar Forest. Made the drive down to Westheimer, past 6 and tried to see how access to Katy via Westpark was looking. Couldn't make it all the way to westpark before having to turn around. Westheimer is mostly empty but the McDonalds at Dairy Ashford was open. So was the Bullritos at Eldridge.

Off of Misty Meadows right now. Just hanging out and not doing much. We haven't ventured out of the town home area all weekend. I want to but am waiting for a long lull

Wish this cloud would break uo

So - worst case scenario - what is our evacuation route? Far as I can tell we need to push South or east as crossings north over the Bayou are tough. Find a way through Alief / Meadows to 59? Or east into Piney Point, then North to I-10 and punch out west?

Village West here, Woodland Park and Westheimer. I'm just glad today's storm isn't flooding the streets yet. No way am I going out to see what else is going on though.

I don't think our area will be that bad that we have to evacuate. If we do, East probably isn't a good idea as it's flooded through Gessner and I bet the underpass is up to I10.

North, you might be able to sneak around , but that would be rough.

West. Might be able to make it on weatheimer?

South, no idea

Ashford hollow. Still dry, power, streets draining ok.

Village West here too. On Briar Rose next to Briar Forest. Aside from Comcast going out, all is good. Seems to be multiple homes, so I think it was some central node.

Country village, still have power, French drain working OT, street is slowly creeping up but should be ok

As far as evac if we had to, I'd probably look to the south. Cross Westheimer and end up in Brays watershed. It is already back in its banks.

Village West also.

I think we are fine unless they have to release quite a bit higher volume down the bayou. Which they very well may.

Curious how the north neigborhoods closer to the bayou are fairing today? Extended flooding or same as yesterday?

Are you saying that Eldridge is flooded down to the westpark exit now? It was ok earlier this afternoon around 1:30

Drove around the Briar Forest and Beltway 8 area midday. Briar Forest was blocked to the east at Gessner due to high water. Also a large oak tree was across the westbound lane, just west of Gessner.

Went West on Briar Forest as for as Kirkwood. A few stalled cars, but no problems. Tried to go north on Kirkwood, but there was high water.

Went east on Westheimer to Fondren. Could have gone further. People were able to go north on Fondren/Piney Point to cross Buffalo Bayou, but it was getting sketchy at the time.

Water has risen since then.

Also in ashford village. Not much flooding here yet. Just got up to the sidewalk and went back down.

Country Village also. Cul de Sac has been flooded all day, but no water problems in the house. Wondering
if increased releases from Addicks and Barker might be a concern.

The back of Briargrove Park is still flooded. It backs on to Buffalo Bayou. The water has varied only by a foot or two, with whatever releases are occuring. The front of the subdivision was flooded Sunday, but is passable now.

Heard late afternoon via radio and tv press conference that they were not intending to increase the flow of the bayou, just not letting it go down. Said it could take 1 to 3 months to drain Addicks and Barker.

Press conf just now said they will increas release now to get to the rate they mentioned yesterday as their goal. Not sure of exact numbers, but I think they said increase to 8000 cfs. But they said they would closely monitor to make sure they don't add to trouble at dairy ashford and east.

sounded to me like they were increasing flow rate out of the reservoirs, which would have a small impact on the bayou.
Dr. Horrible

8000 was their original goal... Did they say how far below that they are now?
FourAggies

8000 was the number they mentioned earlier. Did they say what rate they were at now? Earlier in the day it was 80 cfs. Sounds like a big increase that would conflict with their goal, but I hope not. We have about 4' left of rise.

Thought they said it was currently at 5000 and they were going to 8000.

My veterinary clinic is at Westheimer and Kirkwood. So far, we have not had water in the building. Anyone been to that area recently? As of 5pm Kirkwood was starting to flood.

Does anyone know of any north-south roads that cross Buffalo Bayou that are open? I'm currently working at Westpark & Dairy Ashford and SH-6 to I-10 was my route to get home. Now with the dam releases, they've closed 6.

It looks like I could take Westheimer east all the way to 610, take 610 north to I-10 and then back out I-10 to the tollway. Anybody know of any issues with that route?

What a coincidence, my vet's office is at Westheimer and Kirkwood...

In all seriousness, the office is parallel with my house as far as distance to the bayou and total elevation, so I'd assume it is ok for now, but definitely have not been out driving around to visually confirm...

You must have a great vet!
Thanks for the info! Praying we get a break in this rain soon.

If y'all don't have the "MyRadar" apps I would suggest downloading it. Much more accurate spread on the weather conditions (my opinion)

Also, keep your eyes peeled here for rain gauges:

Uh, Piney Point was under water earlier today. We went West to Eldridge Pkwy, Westheimer to BF back to BW8, not very much water. Saw one stalled Fiat roller skate just off Westheimer.
