I'm pretty sure that the dams of each have a gate in the dam for controlled release into buffalo bayou. The spillways are tapered and "armored" areas at the end of the dam so that water won't go over the top of the dam.
Here are a few pics I just took off of Tanner rd. In one pic you can see the emergency vehicles about a quarter mile up the road. I was probably about 1/2 mile west of brittmoore and maybe still a mile or so to Eldridge.

Yes, thought they said all the way to 16,000 cfs, causing a rise of over a half foot at dairy Ashford.
And *that* is the spillway. Doesn't look like much, but that is a ton of water following the path of least resistance.
Yep actually a pretty well designed system. Flows down brittmore and other minor creeks to the bayou system.

If I'm in spring branch west between gessner and beltway 8 just north of I-10, is there a good chance the water at tanner eventually makes it across the beltway to me?
HCFC says no that they don't expect it to go past the BW. But they did also say it's never happened so they're certain how it will flow.
