Live in Wilchester....anyone know what neighborhoods would be impacted by potential flooding with the release of water from these two reservoirs?

First time they are releasing from the reservoirs while its still raining. I'll try to find the map and post it for you.

Their website is down to insane traffic. Keep an eye on the other thread

Local residents in Fort Bend were advised that when the elevation of the water reaches 95 feet in the reservoir, water will then begin to flow out of government land into the Cinco Ranch and Canyon Gate areas located within its western boundaries, according to a release.

...

Residents near Barker were warned not to drive on roads in Canyon Gate and east Cinco Ranch, roads east of South Mason Road, particularly in the area south of Westheimer Road and east of Grand Parkway since it is expected the water will rise backwards from the reservoirs. The Corps also warned people in the Fort Bend area to stay off Grand Parkway (aka State Highway 99).

"It is critical now that residents in the western portion of the reservoir pay close attention to the developing situation there, and have a plan to keep yourself, your families and your pets safe," said Fort Bend County Judge Robert Hebert in a release. "Corp of Engineer predictions indicate that water could soon rise to levels that will enter structures in those areas."

These rains have occurred near, and over the massive Ad***** and Barker reservoirs on the west side of the city. Earlier today, the US Army Corps of Engineers said it would have to make controlled releases into Buffalo Bayou (which already is beyond flood stage) in order to prevent a more catastrophic release later next week. "This flood event will exceed the 2016 Tax Day Flood elevations," said Col. Lars Zetterstrom, Galveston District commander.

It seems probable that some homes near Clay Road and Eldridge, and in the vicinity of the Westpark Toll Road and Highway 99 will see water remain in homes for up to two months. That is not a misprint.

What does this mean? Do Energy Corridor folks need to be packing up?

Backing up it will go around the ends of the dams north and south before it tops them.

I have family members at a d d Icks as well as barker and I live near Buffalo Bayou. How quick can Aggieland Outfitters print a house divided shirt?

I have spent the last 2 hours reassuring them that the release is a good thing. I sure hope so.

In a word, yes. That big chunk of green space you see on google maps is pretty much under water right now, with more rain on the way.

Our backyard falls off into Barker Reservoir / George Bush Park very near I10 @ Barker Cypress. It is about a 6 foot drop down to the reservoir.

If you drew a line from the discharge gates on highway 6 across the reservoir, parallel to I10 you would come very close to intersecting our house.

As of 5 minutes ago, there is no water backing up into our area of the reservoir as of yet... there was no visible water at our end last year at the peak.

So no, this entire area is not filled up with water. Not even close actually.

Water finds its own level, but it has yet to find the floor level of the reservoir near us.

It finally found its level behind us around midnight. Went from nothing at midnight to half full.

All sign are that we will be flooded out.

Thank you.

Evacuated my wife and 2 year old... may try to make it back in and raise a few more things to higher ground.

I'm guessing the water gets to your property last? Does it fill south first?

The top of the reservoir behind our house is about 103-104. The water appears to already be spilling around the side of the dam at Barker and Kingsland or it is just backing up thru the major inflow there.

Kingsland is flooded from Baker eastward.

Current level about 98.6.

We got everything we could to high ground and left a few minutes ago.

We don't know exactly which way... I think we started seeing water rise more from the north and east.

How are the neighborhoods along the bayou since they've been releasing water?

Specifically briar forest kirkwood area?

Saw on the news memorial was filling fast and was wondering if it was due to them adding the water to the bayou.

Press conference earlier today from the HCFCD stated the levels in buffalo bayou are holding steady despite the releases. Rainfall today isn't as intense as yesterday.

They did a very good job with that press conference. Guy answered questions well and explained the situation cleanly. And the one last night, for that matter.
