I expect water to be up to the second story once the levee is topped.

It is impressive to watch water released from lakes. Sucks in this instance though.

We are at Eldridge lakes helping pack cars and houses and we were told the evacuation is now mandatory. If you need help packing or getting out of the evacuation area, post on here and we will come help.

Does anyone have a good link for steps to be taken (insurance, fema, etc.) if you do flood. My parents have flooded and with the scope of what is happening I want them to have a head start on recovery. TIA
KPRC2 News - Amy Davis posted this about filing a claim and about the new House Bill that goes in affect this Friday. PLEASE review if you are filing a claim. DO NOT WAIT.

Also if you have insurance you can still file for FEMA assistance.

Does anyone have an update on the Camden Heights apartments, 404 Oxford street? Are the ground floor units under water?

Nope. That's where I'm at. 4th and 4 1/2 streets aren't even pooling. We're fine, just can't really go too far in any direction.

First off, God be with you and yours.

1) Prep your grab and go kit, if not already done. Water, food, first aid, sanitizer, tooth brush/paste, meds, cash, etc.

2) Grab copies of important papers in a zip lock or waterproof bag (DL, insurance, med records, SS cards, contacts)

3) Shut down all utilities - elec, water, gas

4) Protect windows if possible. Hopefully you've boarded up. If not, at least lock them.

5) Move all valuables to higher levels in your home. Wrap electronics in sheets, blankets or plastic wrap if you have it.

6) Lock your home, windows.

When you go back home, have it inspected for gas leaks before you turn anything on. Hoping some good folks are out helping people like you and others to a safe place.

Just now

Great, just 48hrs too late... what are they supposed to do - they are already underwater and need evacuation help. It's like this evacuation was made as a CYA type move - kind of like sticking fingers in ears and closing eyes to pretend as if it isn't already happening.

Got my eye on the gauges at I45N and the San Jac bridge just south of Conroe

Not sure what the highway level is, but that river is way up close.

Left The Woodlands, evac'ed to Colleg Station.

Our power went out this morning due transformer underwater. Wife is 6 months pregnant so not taking chances with water blocking exit to neighborhood or no power.

Took 105. West of Conroe where west fork of San Jacinto river crosses the highway it was down to one way in both directions. Not sure how much longer that will be passable.

Head north and take shelter. Do you want us to stop by and help them? We are just north of the mandatory evacuation area.

I hope this BS of the west side of 288 doesn't screw over the east side of 288. It didn't last time the Brazos flooded but who knows.
