Jon and others in Coles - I am in the small sectiom between Telge and Huffmeister. Please let me know if there is any way that I can help. No boat and no big vehicle but I will do what I can to provide a hand getting there on foot. Help carry stuff, move furniture, clean up after, whatever is needed.

pcmoore21 at yahoo dot com if you need to reach me. I'll keep an eye on here but email will be best.

Very kind of you. I think at this point we are on a wait and see type situation. Amazingly we still have power (knock on wood), keep hearing a transformer humming though.

The press conference said they started the releases very slowly. I think it was like 1800cfm. They're going to go up to 4000ea for 8000cfm total. I wouldn't get complacent yet.

I just came from a chat with our local firemen. Most of those residences on that map, especially those south of Woodlands Parkway in Creekside can no longer evacuate. Even though the water is at 108 ft (the same as May 2016), the water is covering more of the road. Kuykendahl is impassable starting at the Timarron light. There are houses on the west side of Creekside Park that are very close to taking on water, but it's pretty much limited to the ones that back up to the nature preserve and Kuykendahl Road.

Gosling is in a similar situation.

We cannot get out to the south, as Kuykendahl just south of West Rayford is also flooded (at those new apartment complexes, just before the railroad tracks).

Hufsmith is passable, but once you get to 2978, there is no where to go.

The fireman are adamant that residents are doing the right thing by staying put. Even the houses that might take on water, those residents can get to higher ground at other places in the subdivision.

There are firemen and constables at the fire station in the Kuykendahl median. If you live in the area, feel free to stop by and talk with them if you want information or need reassurance. They are here to ride this out with us.

HEB may or may not be open today - it's totally dependent on whether or not any employees (even if it's just a few) can get there.

Finally, the firemen said that there is talk of opening either the old YMCA or the junior high as shelters, if for any reason we get to that point.

Edited to add that the fireman were unaware that the YMCA parking lot is now flooded. No way that can be used as a shelter.

According to the maps it looks like my former house in Grand Lakes will flood. Our current house in Pecan Grove is uncertain....hopefully the levee system holds. At the very least we will be trapped here for days.

Definitely not getting complacent. Just stating a fact that 8 hrs after the releases started, the Bayou had gone down.

At this point, this is the closest thing to good news for many. Sucks for those to the east of the eye though.

The release from Add!cks only helped a small amount. Not at 102.94'. Higher than tax day floods and close to flooding Barker Cypress rd if it hasn't already.

Spring creek at kuykendahl is a foot away from the 500 year flood mark and currently higher than April or may 2016 floods. I drove around a bit this morning and water is basically covering all the areas marked in the 500 year flood plain on the flood maps. Several homes in the 500 year flood plain appear to be taking on water.

Yep...the number I saw at the 645 update was 108.66 ft. That's just above the 108.15 measured in May 2016. I was not surprised, but certainly disappointed, to see that the water was all the way to the Timmaron/Kuykendahl intersection. It didn't get that far when it hit 108 ft in 2016.

I haven't looked at the flood maps in a while...does the 500 year flood plain basically overlap with the areas that are the nature preserve?

Anyone know if the routes to Pearland or Katy from Sugar Land are passable? Like HI6 or BW8? Not sure how up to date the reports I find online are.

Caught in this evacuation in First Colony, so looking for a hotel nearby to stay.

We are good here for now. They told the people that back up to creek and pond they should think about leaving. But if Spring Creek gets to 113 like they are projecting very few if any houses will get flooded here. Still nervous though.

Yeah. Some of the nature preserve is even 100 year flood plain. I tried to follow the flood map and check out all of the 500 year flood sections, at least as many as I could get to. They are all covered by water.

My folks (and my childhood home) are in Ashton Village (Dairy Ashford and Wespark).

The bayou by them (Brays) never got out of the banks, but got close. I'm hoping the releases don't push water up higher for them. Their house was one of the last to built, so it is higher. Also got foundation work to push the house back up to the original height. But they seem a bit like an island in a sea right now.

For Kingwood, I got another 4.2 inches last night.

My running totals are now up to 28.6 inches total. The drainage ditch by Gladehill was only 1/2 full, so I think the back can handle more water. But hopefully the rain will be lighter today. I think we had constant rain from Friday evening till Sunday 6ish.

I evacuated Grogans Point in the Woodlands last night and am staying with a friend in Shenandoah. I'd like to go back and check on things. From what I saw leaving grogans point I would think driving conditions would be fine everywhere except sawdust. Could I park near south millbend and sawdust and walk or is that water too high to walk through at this point?

I'm in Lakewood Glen and we are doing okay, the neighborhood streets are draining well for the most part. Around us Louetta is flooded through Longwood and Grant at Cypress Creek is now an aquarium. Lots of flooding over there. I've haven't left the house since Saturday but my husband is an LEO and is out working today so I'm anxious to hear what things are like further out. We are still draining well but at some point the water just won't have anywhere to go.
