Over an hour wait to check out at my local HEB. The line was unreal. Not surprising considering they're about the only thing open in town.

Drivetexas.org (which is run by TXDOT) says call 211. I would guess 911 is the best option if you need rescue in the Houston metro area and 211 if you're out of town on the road somewhere.

I think there was a photo of a sinkhole in Rosenberg going around today. I wonder if a number of these will open up around the Houston area.

Spring Creek at 97' now... expected to hit 112' within 24 hours.

Previous recorded record is 111'.

(2) 108.30 ft on 05/30/1929
(3) 108.15 ft on 05/28/2016

I have flood insurance but very worried about the house. This could be very bad.

that happened around a bunch of construction where they are expanding 59 so that had some form of contribution to that I'm sure

That level is insane - I hope it misses you.

Even with flood insurance its stressful, but I've talked to a number of people today who didn't bother with it. That 400-500 bucks doesn't seem like such a big deal now.

Army Corp will release water from Attics at 2am. They contacted us at work. Supposed to raise the Buffalo Bayou by at least 3ft into downtown. Not sure if this has been posted or not.

Any links? Trying to get info on barker as well.
No link, but I'm hearing that they aren't going to release unless they need to maintain the integrity of the dam. Crest is expected to be in the 103-104 ft range but may be a week before that happens...

New to the thread, I've been on the OB thread.

Couple of questions. My aunt and uncle are heading for the attic/roof. They are about 4-5 blocks from Brays Bayou next to Braeburn Country Club. They've got 3 ft of water in their 1 story home. I'm trying to convince them to call for rescue.

1. Does anyone know of definite road closures in this area? She's talking about trying to get their Tahoe to higher streets to bug out.

2. If I'm right and they should need rescue instead, any specific hook ups in that area? Several neighbors are already on the roof.
I'm about two miles to the east. There are medevac Blackhawks going up and down the bayou right now. Call for rescue NOW before it gets dark.
She can hear them flying around. She says there are many families with children waiting for rescue. I've asked her to go next door to her neighbors house with dormer windows to the roof. We'all see if she listens

Work didn't send out an email for the tax day flood even though parking lot was under water in nw Houston. I don't expect to get an email about tomorrow but I'll show up if I can. If I don't, they'll assume I couldn't.... May just go to get away from kids with cabin fever.

Well the past sustained 10" of rain showed my chimney leak. Counting my blessings that's the worst so far. I wish everyone in Houston was so lucky. I'm in Waller and we've caught up to Houston at 21" now. Still raining. Unbelievable. T&P for everyone.

Hawks from in and out of state, Lakotas and a Chinook in the area. TTF-1 swimmers on most. Get to roof, wear bright colors and make lots of movement if you see them fly over and need help. Call with exact location if possible. Try to give details as to what debris, power lines etc around fornpilots and crew chiefs. They cannot hear you, so visual sight picture necessary especially with the light degrading now.

The husband is stuck at hotel near IAH and can't get to Friendswood. Hoping freeways are passable in 2 days or so. He's going nuts, but good news is kids and I are fine, no flooding or power issues so far. Just a lot of frustration.

On a side note, they are using the intersection of 2351 and 518 as a boat launch to rescue folks close to Clear Creek. Absolutely bizarre to hear air boats from inside the house. Anyone know how The Forest of Friendswood is faring?

Also, I'm the head of HR for my company and asking for non essential folks to come in to work tomorrow is ridiculous. Cant people work from home if they have power? Even if I could actually make it to the office in League City my kids are out of school All week and day cares are all closed.

Is it true that if an area is declared a natural disaster that you can receive FEMA money for flood damages even if you don't have flood insurance? I feel like I heard for the 2015 flood.
I hope that is not true.

Otherwise why should I pay every single year for flood insurance then others folks get a free ride during a catastrophe?
