Good deal. My only worry would be what happens if they are needed in Louisiana if the brunt of the storm shifts that way.

Houston has called......and Boudreaux will answer

Slight good news maybe from work fcst service, unless live east of Houston.
The next round of heavy rain is expected to develop just east of downtown Houston to eastern Galveston this evening and be concentrated across far southeast Texas, including the Beaumont/Port Arthur area to Lake Charles. Additional heavy squalls are likely across southeast Texas through Wednesday as Harvey tracks through the area.

Indicating that the next round of heavy rain will begin late this evening, but the core of this rain may be to the east of central Houston, probably between Houston and Sabine Pass.

Hopefully east means farther east than places on the NE side like Humble/Kingwood.

Feel terrible for those people in East Houston, but sounds like things might be okay up here in the NW

i don't think it matters. every freeway in town is blocked somewhere. trying to take back roads is surely not gonna happen either.

This is my question Are they able to get out of town at all anymore? They are near 'fry. Road and I 10
When you look at Drive Texas, it seems like they could go 99 to 290 to HWY 6 and be ok.

I have had 15" in The Woodlands as of about 10 this morning. Been raining a good bit since then and probably have another 2-3" by now.

Yea not sure what that inboard/outboard could do. Needs to be flat bottom or something similar.

I've got a little CC skiff that would be good for this stuff, but I don't think I can get there down 290 due to all the rain we're getting this way. I understand the road is closed.

Just filled up with gas at Bernardo Road and I-10. We saw at least 50 large Greyhound type busses headed towards Houston.

The footage from Dickinson, TX showed what looked like a wakeboarding boat cruising down main street.

@mts, thanks. Edited post to say a similar group from pic is in enroute!

I also just received word of a mutual friend with an air boat is headed right into it full steam.

Man, human nature during these situations is one thing that makes me proud to be part of this country. All petty BS aside, people helping people.

@BQ, yeah they asked for flat bottoms this morning. They get hung up less branches while hunting I can say that. Slide over logs better, less likely to flip. There's also slick bottom with no grooves. Even better for that & running ditches/low areas. Assuming there's a ton of debris & hidden obstructions. Think they're now taking any they can get.

So the drainage ditch behind my backyard is as high as it was this morning and as we have been getting a good bit of rain in The Woodlands the last 2-3 hours it's back up and running fast, where it had subsided without raining.

It drains east to Lake Houston in Humble /Kingwood then onto Galveston bay.

Is the fact it's running fast a good sign? That water is being pumped out and through it.

If you wanted to bring a boat from Dallas and help, how would you even get there? Or would we be more of a hindrance than help?

Probably no way. It's frustrating when you want to help but it's just prohibitive right now.

That's my problem now. I have a pwc that I could use but I can't get out of our neighborhood. I know a pwc can only carry a few people but it runs shallow and can get into places larger boats can't.

Anybody know of any fast food open in Cypress or Tomball? My wife stocked up, but only on cold stuff or snacks and I could use a greasy burger while it isn't bad out

http://m.chron.com/news/houston-weather/hurricaneharvey/article/hurricane-harvey-otis-dog-texas-food-mouth-viral-11990775.php

Quote:

A dog that accidentally got loose Friday night during Hurricane Harvey has become an unlikely symbol of Texas strength.

Otis, a German shepherd mix, got loose Friday night from a screened-in back porch in Sinton, Texas, while in the care of Salvador Segovia, 65. Segovia was watching the dog, who belongs to his 5-year-old grandson Carter who had fled the city due to flooding.

Segovia checked his porch Saturday morning and noticed Otis' bag of dog food was missing. Segovia drove around his neighborhood looking for the pooch when he was flagged down by a neighbor who said they saw Otis walking around with the bag of food in his mouth.

Fellow neighbor Tiele Dockens also saw Otis and snapped a photo of him with his food that went viral. The image had been shared nearly 16,000 times by 4:50 pm on Saturday.

What's the word on the freeways?

If I got out of Westbury could I get to Kingwood?

No tv or internet to look at anytime soon.

Traffic girl on Fox 26 just saw a dude on a jet ski riding around 45 / Allen Parkway traffic cam, and she was like "look at that guy having fun. that's not what you should be doing. this is a very serious situation." Haha.
