Anyone know if the Parking Spot next to Hobby floods enough to worry about my parents' car being flooded out? They are due back Wednesday; I told them not to hold their breath.

What floor are you on?

First, I live in a house. It's elevated.

Basically, I live close ti cedar creek (flooded) , brother livrs at apts on washington/studemont

I just don't think getting there is worth the risk.

My brother sent me this, this is Ella and TC Jester. White Oak bayou is over the top of the bank, I don't think I'd move

I live next to Rainbow Lodge and fled this morning through waist deep water. The waters have only risen since I left this morning.

That's over 5 days though right? 5"/day?

I don't understand how people can still think this way at this point. We're saturated and every watershed is out of it's banks. That really wouldn't make it that much better.

I don't mean to sound callous, but I'm thinking about my family and our house, I don't have standing water anywhere on my property so I think I can process 5" a day. Still praying hard for my fellow Houstonians

You can't cross over I-10 and Durham at all. The new raising canes is flooded. Can't cross over TC jester bridge either. Yale at i-10 is all underwater

I was told Washington avenue between Durham and tc jester is fine now. Last night it was flooded

Latest update fcst:
Harvey will move off the coast tomorrow afternoon then drift east for 12-18 hours before turning northward and moving inland between Galveston Bay and Matagorda Bay on Tuesday evening. Nudged track about 25 miles to the east in this advisory, taking the center over Houston during the day on Wednesday. Indicating winds may increase to 50 mph, primarily over the water to the east and southeast of the center. By the time the center moves past Houston on Wednesday winds will be down to about 35 mph. By Thursday morning, Harvey is predicted to be a remnant low pressure area over northeast Texas.

Maps show some spots with water on the highway.

290 is closed until Sept. 1 south of Hempstead and north of Hockley.

Hwy 6 is closed north of Hempstead until Tuesday at least.

Serious question. Where did you see that 290 would be closed till Sept 1. I can't find that anywhere. Speculation or fact please

Isn't it good if the eye goes over us? At least as far as flooding is concerned?

West Katy in firethorne here...continuing to just rain buckets. We had a nice 2-3 hour lull but it's been going strong again for some time. Anyone know how bad old Katy is?

Yes, and an eye at 35-50 mph is manageable.

No worries - had a buddy stop by. Everything looks OK at the moment. I'm on a pier and beam foundation, so at this point it's going to depend how far above 500 year flood plain this goes in the neighborhood. Best of luck to you CDUB.

CDub, does it seem like we are still trapped in OF? Wondering if this water recedes enough, if an escape can be made to the north/nw.

Glimmer of hope... Frank just showed a water vapor loop where the storm is pulling in dry air from west Texas. Could begin to calm things down and push the weather east.

We can only hope.

Good deal. My only worry would be what happens if they are needed in Louisiana if the brunt of the storm shifts that way.

This is probably a stupid question, but what are the consequences of opening up my drain clean-out next to my house to let ponding water drain in?

It just happens to be right where water rises in my yard, and the first place water could start to get in to the house.

Would this cause my toilets and other drains to potentially overflow? I assume this is why I wouldn't want to do it...
