Looks like the guy that tweeted it has parents there. I'm guessing he shopped it to get a faster rescue

Lakes at Country Place - Pearland. That pic was on the 12th fairway which runs adjacent to Clear Creek just south of Tom Bass.

Here's the creek with the 12th on the left of the berm. The creek has about another 1'-1.5' to go before it comes out of its bank. Could've paddled the whole back 9 if it weren't for the tornado warning.

Most of the houses on the course have about 2' max before their houses get flooded out. For now all the flooding has been isolated to streets, thankfully.

Anyone have any idea if the medical center is flooded like it was during Allison? I have some friends that work down there and haven't been able to get in touch with them.

This girl on channel 13 was just getting asked about everything going on after they picked her up and she dropped "There's a bunch of old Jews" on her street. I laughed my ass off at the way she said it with her face.

Saw that.

So tons of people in their houses in a flooded area that's going to get worse is safe. Now your putting first responders in a unsafe situation and your people

Med Center looks to have at least a foot or two of water every time they go to Ben Taub to report its evacuation.

does anyone know how to find a list of shelters? my father lives near rankin and 45 and he just had hpd come to his complex and tell them that if they stayed they wouldn't be able to reach them if the bayou crests. wondering if there is one close enough he could get to.

I am assuming my area is okay, but does anybody live in The Falls at Imperial Oaks? Spoke to a friend in Woodson's Reserve & they were okay over there. I'm out of town.

I work in the med center. They covered the entire place with flood doors after Allison. I would be very surprised if there is any significant damage like there was during Allison. The email I got from my workplace said all flood doors were sealed and power has not been interrupted.

It's much better to ferry those people out as needed from relative calm waters in the flood plains and the first responders only have to deal with people who really need them even if that's thousands people. A general evacuation order would have been insane and led to much more danger to first responders because they would have to be saving people in deep water and moving streams on the roadways and in cars and hundreds of thousands would be in danger. Most deaths will be in cars as is, imagine hundreds of thousands of cars on the road running out of gas on 290, 10, and 45 and then it starts raining.

In addition, nobody can know beforehand exactly which watersheds were going to be hit, if there was a general evacuation, many people would need to be rescued trying to get out at the last minute, who never were in any danger in the first place but heard they should evacuate. That itself would drain resources.

Plus an evacuation would actually create New Orleans style problems. An evacuated city is a looters paradise. Evacuation maybe would have saved some folks, but also killed many on its own who would b fine otherwise, imo.

Anyone know about the roads on 290 to Hwy 6 to get to College Station? Are they packed?

Trying to get an idea before packing up. Cypress where my wife is fine, I'm more worried about Tuesday/Wednesday when this thing comes back for round 2 and an evac is ordered Tuesday morning and it becomes an ungodly CF.

I am offshore in the Gulf and its sunny, but we already had a guy whose wife and kids had to get water rescued because they didn't leave out of SE Houston.

I know there are people in much more danger than my wife, but I feel completely useless right now.

I believe him. The worse is far from over. Harvey very well may reform and come back to dump more rain.

None yet. I think once the creek crests it's gonna be a different story. I'll probably head back out once this rain let's up to get a status on the creek.

Drove around earlier and most roads leading out of the neighborhood are either flooded out or closed. Ran up to the country store to get some juice and milk and that was about it. Was trying to go get a look at the retention pond along McHard, but the road was closed. Other neighbor on the far cul-de-sac said it had about another 1'-2' to go.

You're more than welcome to head my way if things start to turn bad over there. Shoot me an email (user at gmail) if you want.

No problem. Let me know if I can help. Travel around the neighborhood is still possible. Traveling here is not a good idea. Just avoid roadways.
