Another thread discussing Old Style (the poster and the beer) got me to thinking, what is the worst beer I have ever consumed.

I have had beers from all around the world, enjoyed kolsch in Cologne, Paulander in Munich, Budvar in the Czech Republic, Guiness in Ireland, Dos Equis in Mexico, Full Sail Ale in Hood River, Oregon, Shiner in Shiner, and Pearl in San Antone, just to name a few. I have loved most of them, but my top five worst beers are:

5. Budweiser (regular Bud is not pleasant)
4. Milwaukee's Best (the "Beast" was a staple in high school, but not good beer)
3. Stroh's and/or Stroh's Light(nasty, nasty stuff).
2. Old Style (sorry to my upper midwest friends).

And the worst beer ever consumed by me...

1. Olympia Dry.

Who would have thought they could produce something to make plain ol'Olympia Beer taste good? The Dry phase was not a good one in general, but Olympia Dry was the worst....by far. After a Bonfire cut, when your mouth is dry and full of dirt, there is nothing better in the world than a cold beer, but the taste of Olympia Dry kept me from even consuming beer after one cut, and it was even ice cold.

For all of you internet policemen who want to question the presence of a beer thread on the Baseball forum, if you do not appreciate the connection of beer and baseball then you are not a true baseball fan.

There is a reason there is a horse shoe that says 'Good Luck' on Olympia cans

Old Style is much better than Keystone or Natural Light. What about Red Dog? Red Wolf? Miller High Life?

Keystone Light and Miller High Life in the bottle (ice cold) are both very good cheap beers. Personally I would like to drink Corona with a lime all day.

As a general rule I avoid drinking anything that was made in Oklahoma.

Keystone and Miller High Life are not bad cheap beers. Keystone is like drinking water, no real taste. The beers on my list are all actually bad, and left a bad taste in my mouth.

I should have put my runner ups, since you have named several:

Natural
Milwaukee 1869
Coors (Light is okay for a cheap beer, but plain Coors is bad).

There has only been one time where I was committed to beer drinking but the beer killed it. Keystone Light. It was probably old or something. Chugged the first one. Shudder. Started on the second. "F@#k this, I'm out."

I thought it was "Sportz" Beer? I didn't think anyone else I had heard of it, other than the person who told me. Wasn't it a white can with a silohuette of a lowrider or something?

I vote Shiner Blonde. GOD AWFUL

Rock - I hate to call out people's intelligence on an anonymous board, but really, Bud? Shiner the worst?

The real worst - Iron City. Truly terrible.

BTW, good Oklahoma beer - Choc beer from Pete's Place in McAlester. Decent Italian food (family style), but the beer is GREAT.

My favorite - Guiness poured from a tap, with a shamrock in the foam, by a foxy Irish chick in Chicago. Mmmmmm.

I'll have to second you on Sportz being terrible. We picked it up as a joke in college because it was something like $4 a case. Terrible.

Olympia Gold is at the very bottom of my list. We used it for hazing purposes in college. We would actually buy it way beforehand and make sure we kept it in a hot place to further skunkify it. I'm not sure why they even sell that.

Having Budweiser on that list is laughable.

I was wondering when some one would mention Iron City. That's probably the reason Pittsburg always sucks.

Why is having Budweiser on my bad beer list laughable? I don't care for the taste of regular Bud, Bud light is okay. Never ceases to amaze me how some of you have to cut down or mock those that disagree with your own tastes. I love Shiner, someone else above does not, that is why there are 5 million different beers.

I prefer Shiner or Guinness or a good hefeweizen.

I perfer Bud Light to Budweiser as well. I also perfer Smith & Wollensky's to Steak and Ale. However there are times when I have to bow to my inner-mullet and I have a Budweiser night.

All that being said, if Budweiser were really that bad don't you think it is a little strange that it is the number one selling beer in the world?

It might be a little rough at times, but to put it on the same plane as some of the other beers you listed is a real stretch.

And for the record, in my fridge right now I have Bud Light, Guinness, Urqell and Spaten Oktoberfest. But if you handed me a Budweiser, I'd drink it.

I wouldn't drink an Olympia if I had just walked out of the desert.

What about Icehouse?

I have no problem spending $7.49 on a 12-pack and getting smashed on a weekend...but most of my friends gag just at the site of it.

Guinness is the worst ever. EVER.

Worst ever: Tecate Light

Regular Tecate is fine...Tecate Light is another story.

Other awful beers:

Pearl Light
Miller Lite
Any Olympia product
Michelob Ultra
Shiner Light

(can you tell that I'm not a fan of "light" beers?)

Beers in my 'fridge:

Lone Star (The National Beer of Texas)
Coors (Originial yellow bellies, of course)
Miller High Life (The Champaign of Beers)
Bud Light (for my wife's friends)

...and before you give me grief about a beer discussion being linked with a scripture listed below, bear in mind that I'm a Methodist. Make your own jokes/conclusions as you wish.

When I was in college, it was $5. Man we lived off that stuff. Ah, the memories.

I hate Keystone. Not because it tastes bad but because it doesn't taste. Seriously, I've had water that tastes more like beer than Keystone.

worst: natty (houston people had me drinking this stuff when I was a fishy, tastes like piss)

*dont knock schlitz beer....when you got only 5 bucks and want a 12 pack, cant beat it

I always liked Icehouse, we used to get kegs of it in college. We all thought that it had a higher alcohol content than regular beer, don't know if that was true or not.

In my fridge right now:

Guiness (not as good as out of a keg but not bad)
Shiner
Rolling Rock
Miller Lite

In my early drinking days, the only beer that I may have turned down would have been Shiner (even in keg beer, the old Shiner would stop me cold),Pearl and Lone Star. After college days I became a little more selective and would add Milwaukee's Best, Old Milwaukee, Schlitz Lite (which would have made the original list easily but it came out later) and Coors to this list. From the perspective of my current age, though, I think I'd really enjoy drinking even any of those brands of beer with my old buddies if they were still around (well, except for the 1960-1970 brew of Shiner!) Old Style never made either list because the only time I had the opportunity to try it was at Wrigley Field and I was probably caught up in nostalgia.
