I don't have a good feeling about this year. I hope I'm wrong, but I'm predicting about .500.

I should preface this by saying that I'm a season ticket holder for the Astros, however, I do like the Rangers too...

The problem for the Rangers is that they're entirely too volatile because of the lack of starting pitching. That being said, however, they do have a good lineup and a good bullpen. It's not like they're parading out a bunch of scrubs to start for them...just a big question mark.

All of that being said, I think the Rangers will be 'ok.' As a Rangers observer, the thing that concerns me the most however is if their young bats will continue swingin' it like they did last year.

I think the Bats will be there, I beleive that the Bullpen will be solid as well as Rogers and Drese, the question marks are Astacio's health, Chris Young(pitched well this spring), and Chan Ho's sinker(which has actually been sinking this year). I think if this team plays loose, and has fun like last year the sky is the limit.

Lineup: excellent. Watch for Adrian Gonzalez to compete for ROY if he gets the at bats at DH.

Bullpen: excellent when healthy. Big if on the health though. Please don't throw any more chairs Frankie...

Pitching: Can Chan Ho and let Young AND Rodriguez start. They are our best bet today and in the future.

All in all: I say 85-77. Anaheim is just too good.

OK, LISTEN UP!

THE RANGERS WILL WIN THE WEST
sure I said they same thing last year and everyone thought I was crazy, but listen.

Infield-- The best in the AL, perhaps the best in the Majors with Teixeira, Soriano, Young, and Blalock

Outfield-- A major question here. Will Nix even be a starter this year with Matthews surging. However, I see Hildago bouncing back in this hitter friendly park and putting up huge numbers.

Catchers-- If Laird or Barajas can combine for .265 15HR 65RBI's I'll be happy.

Starter-- I personally like the rotation of Drese, Rogers, Rodriguez, Young, (Park or Astasio)

Middle Relief-- This was what kept the Rangers in the AL West last year. There is no way they can be even close to as good as they were last year, but if Fransciso can get healthy along with Shouse putting up decent numbers they could be decent.

Closer-- Cordero is a stud! He can piss you off when he can't throw a strike, but when he is on he is hitting 98 99 consistently.

THIS IS OUR YEAR!!!

I'm looking at a possible rough start with our bull pen hurting already...But I really hope that I'm wrong about that though...DH is a spot that REALLY worries me right now, seeing as how we really didn't get any better this off season there

I think they'll finish around .500. Main concerns:

1) Soriano has been terrible so far with no confidence in the hammy yet.

2) DH is a big hole. I maintain that DH was the reason they didn't win the West last year. The pitching held up well enough, but this team did not get a damn thing out of DH - and it really killed their run production on the road.

3) I'm worried about the health of the bullpen. From a pitching standpoint, a strong bullpen was the backbone of their division titles in the 90's, and their resurgence last year. Frankie is hurt and Cordero has been gimpy too. They really need both firing at full speed.

4) They received a huge boost at times last year from guys who have been spare-to-fair over their careers - guys like Delucci and Barajas. Barajas hadn't hit more than 3 HR's in a year and all of the sudden smacks 15 - and many of them were critical in helping the Rangers get a W. I just have a hard time believing the stars are going to align for two straight years with these types of players.

Have you seen his stats lately??

After starting 0-17
35 AB's
16 Hits
4 2B
3 HR's
9 RBI's

Since his horrible start
.457 Avg
.828 SLG

That brings the total membership of "Ranger's Starting Pitching Fan Club" to one.

Personally, I see a battle with the Mariners for second place with the edge going to the Mariners. (Better pitching and Beltre/Sexson are going to make Boone a better hitter. I've been saying that before Harold Reynolds.) No one is in Anaheim's, er LA's league this year. The Angels have one of the top bullpen's in the majors. I would go so far as to say the best. They have better starters and a comparable offense with Vlad counting for a lot.

Oakland won't be a factor.

I think the Rangers bullpen was better last year, they may get off to a slow start but by the end of the year they will be better than last year.

I'll sure be pullin' for you guys (the Rangers). Looking far down the road to the playoffs, I'd love to see the Red Sox and Rangers. I'm personally tired of playing California teams in the ALDS, so good luck.
