He retired this year and should have made the all star team at least 3 times but never was selected. ( wish I had a picture to post).

In all seriousness, it's hard to even make an argument that Babe Ruth is not the greatest ball player to ever live. With all due respect to Ricky Henderson and Barry Bonds, the man was the best offensive force to ever pick up a bat, and we've all heard the stories about how he was the best pitcher of his time before getting moved. I just don't see how this is even an open question.

IMO Willie Mays was the best ever. Although it is difficult to argue against Ruth. C'mon he embodied what a baseball player should be, Ugly, Fat but loved to play and there's the whole he was a pitcher thing as well.
