I'm going to be there Friday and Saturday for sure. Can't wait to see these games. The only other place that you will be able to see this much college baseball talent in one place is Omaha.

I couldn't agree with you more....We have to come back tonight as opposed to the original plan of tomorrow night....I was possibly looking forward to the Rice v USC game on Saturday as much as I was our Notre Dame game....and you can't forget about Alex Gordon with Nebraska....

Ryan,

On the pitcher's stats, what does "GSc" stand for?

Great question....

GSc stands for "Game Score" which is a number that is intended to show a pitcher's dominance in a game. It's not a perfect measuring tool (for example, I think it should also include HBP) but it's quick and easy and for all effective purposes pretty representative. I really like it.

A 50-55 GSc is a solid start deserving of a win, a 55 is a good start, a 60-65 is a very good start and anything above 65 is excellent. The highest GSc recorded in the major leagues was Kerry Wood's 20 K, 1 hit, 0 walk, complete game, shutout in '98 (he had a GSc of 104).

You can read more about it and how it's calculated from the link under "Stat Definitions" on the side bar of my site.... (AGs is simply the average game score of a pitcher)

Just like a Cubbies fan to bring up that damn game. Astros were flailing at air that day.

I'm glad someone other than my dad enjoys reading it...

You should be proud of me that I didn't needle yall with the K-Wood game, although you can be sure that I tossed the idea around. Regardless of the opponent I think it was the greatest single pitching performance of all time.

As big of an Astros fan as I am, I have to agree with you on that.

I watched all of that game, his stuff was scary good that day.
