It should overall help our offense as our hitters generally have a good feel for the strike zone. Hopefully it helps improve college umps through better training.

It also shrinks the strike zone quite a bit. An ABS zone is a different zone than a plate zone. Balls that were correctly called strikes this year will be balls next year.

As long as there is consistency it will be better

I guess. I have never really been bothered by it. I don't think it will make any difference.
I don’t say this in a braggedocious way. But it’s true. I’ve been right about everything.

Can I heckle ABS?

I have discovered that with enough beers in ya, you can heckle anything.

I felt like the zone at Hoover was just about perfect. If you move to the MLB strike zone then you'll have 20+ walks a game and it'll be a terrible product.

Agree. Consistency is far more important, though. Batters demonstrate regularly that they can hit an HR anywhere in the ABS zone at Hoover. The game improves when players and fans learn that zone exactly and have confidence that balls and strikes are called correctly. Also, it was great at Hoover not having fans yell at the ump about balls and strikes.

Looking forward to "framing" becoming a lost art.

It won't until fully automated rather than a weird version of FIFA's red-headed stepchild VAR.

Yea. Just like pitchers hitting, bunts, adjusting to strike zones, .300 hitters, complete games. Baseball is just so much better now.

For those of you that do not believe the ABS is not a real strike zone, this pitch was a strike yet ABS had it as a ball. Happens all the time, every night, Im every game.

Fix ABS before rolling it out any further.

The video does not illustrate your point.

the video is not about that specifically but it absolutely does show my point Pitch is a strike. Umpire called it a strike. ABS had it as a ball. Watch from 15-30 seconds. The rest of the video is irrelevant.

It's similar to the last out called strike three in the WBC.

They did some ABS experimenting with a 3D plane in the minor leagues and the players and fans didn't like it. They aren't fixing it. From their perspective the 2D nature of ABS calling pitches based on its location when it cross the midpoint of the plate is a feature and NOT a bug.

At some point they will update the rule book language to match what ABS is defining a strike. Until then, just think of it like all of these old unenforceable laws that our states still have on the books. They are technically still on the books as laws, but they aren't really laws as they aren't enforceable.
