When Vitello leaves SF, whenever that is, he will be going to Arkansas.

This is the dumbest internet rumor ever. And it just keeps getting repeated.

Pigs believe they'll have their pick between Vitello and Wes Johnson once DVH is out. I don't think their AD would force out DVH unless they absolutely tank, and history says they won't. Johnson can build UGA into what Arkansas is currently, I don't think it's a slam dunk that he'd leave UGA.
As for Vitello - NIL, portal, and rev share were big factors for him leaving college baseball.

Excuse me if this is common knowledge and I am just not seeing it, but what is that great about Arkansas and Fayetteville? I do not understand the draw of anyone making it a destination job.

Not a lot of bang for their bucks.

Top 3-5 fan support and facilities in the country. Most wins among SEC programs since like 2017 (despite no title). Up until recently they were one of the few programs to make a profit on baseball.

Of course one bad hire can turn you into South Carolina just like everyone else, but the consistency DVH has been able to have is pretty impressive.

Since Texas HS students have such a hard time getting admitted to A&M and tu, many are going to Arkansas and OU on very lucrative scholarships. The parents of the students I know who chose Arky have nothing but great things to say about Fayetteville. It's a very fast-growing area...low crime, great natural features.

My overall sense is TV isn't going to retire in his 40s. He is much more Type A than to sit around. My sense is unless he has more success next year in the MLB, he will start to place himself back in the college ranks.

Upon his departure for the MLB, he had thoughts on UT and A&M's baseball spending. Those 2 schools he mentioned in particular. I don't track MLB schedules and the timing between the college baseball schedule to know how that would play out in TV's future.

Ole Miss does the same.

And Fayetteville is beautiful - a number of my vendors have sent their kids there and a couple of my son's classmates have gone there - all seem to love it

Isn't there an issue with fund raising for the facilities?

expanded stadium yes. Players lounges, coaches offices, weight room, indoor cages, etc are about half done.

I am a San Francisco Giants fan, and I think firing Bob Melvin for Tony Vitello was a big mistake. But I don't think the Giants will fire Vitello after one year. The Giants are dealing with a heavily inflated managerial budget that makes an early termination economically unfeasible. Vitello is under a 3-year, $10.5 million deal ($3.5 million annually), and the Giants already paid a $3 million buyout fee to pry him from college. On top of that the Giants still owe fired manager Bob Melvin $4 million.

The missing piece in this conversation is Trev Kendall Alberts, who has already told one championship-level baseball coach to get the hell out of College Station. In my opinion, Trev is a caretaker, not a builder. Earley gets an extension, and the team's performance regresses next year.

I still dont understand how this narrative continues. Its been clear that Schloss had one foot out the door the moment CDC contacted him. To this day I still feel we didnt have enough balls to pursue a tortuous interference claim but we basically used the Schloss payout to pay for Earley's contract. The idea he isnt a builder is insane when you think he hired Bucky. And Bucky is building something different and frankly better at A&M.

I would tap the breaks on Bucky. Let's see what he actually does. If he does well, I think keeping him will be difficult.

Hopefully Trev doesn't extend Earley. If he does, I hope the buyout is manageable

I like to tell everyone that the University of Arkansas should be renamed Northeast Texas State University, since 1/3 of its enrollment (and climbing) are Texans.
