No recommendations on places really as I spent just a couple days watching my Ags go 2 and Q there and I watched a lot of baseball at the park (other schools) so didn't have much social time

What I WILL tell you is if the weather is like it was a couple of years ago……bring your sunscreen and stay hydrated. That was a hot mofo

If your a hard corp baseball nut the remanence Rosenblatt Stadium by the zoo. There is a small turf field with the original homeplate. Possibly play a little wiffle ball. The foul poles are in the parking lot.

There is not much in Omaha other than CWS. It is alot of fun.

I think Hoover is in a whole other state…

Will you have kids with you? There's a children's museum that is a cool way (ie AC) to spend some time. The Botanical garden is worth a stroll, as is the zoo. All are quick visits compared to those in a larger city, so its not taking up your whole day. Aldridge Gardens is close and a nice place to stroll or let the kids get out energy.

Restaurants around there are run of the mill. We like Farrelly's for a good meal.

You're in over your head, Pea.

Saw's bbq is pretty good.

At the stadium, if they still have it, there was this AMAZING strawberry lemonade at a little literal hole in the wall on the third base side. So good.

About to leave. Hoping to catch first pitch of tourney. Looking forward to the strike/ball appeal change.

Hopefully this will show how bad some of these umps zones get late in the game.

Some don't wait until late in the game.

The SEC already has grades on the umpires. My guess is they only put the highest scoring umpires behind the plate this week.

I also wouldn't put it past the SEC to, uh, program the strike zone to be a bit ... bigger than it should be.

Honestly, not sure why people put all this faith in the automatic devices. We don't know how they're really programmed and calibrated. Lol.

Looks like rain every evening starting Wednesday through the weekend. Lord knows we need it in Alabama, just not this week.

LOL! Watching the Cubs/Brewers game and the catcher challenged a ball call. The ABS showed it was a strike, but umpire still declared it's a ball and the Brewers lost a challenge. Lol, what?

Do yourself a favor and take a half day, make the trip to Birmingham and watch a game or two of the SWAC tournament at Rickwood Field. Longest continuously in use ball field in the country (I don't give a damn what Oregon State claims).

Thursday or Friday would be a good day to go because they have games starting at 9am and the SEC games don't start until 3pm I think.

This happens every year in Hoover. The only baseball scheduling that is more ridiculous is a regional in Miami.

Even the best umps can do no better than making the correct call less than 100% of the time.

Is it reserved seating or GA throughout the staduim?

The lower seats are reserved. The upper seats (bleachers) are GA.

Jeff Head is in the bucket for the Kentucky/Vandy game. So evidently not.

Were there reviewed ball/strike calls in that game? Curious about his miss rate.

Yes, quite a few I understand.

And I think about 70% of them were overturned.
I don’t get enough credit for the things I manage not to say.

He actually acknowledged me last week and smiled and kind of gave a salute. I want Mattingly behind home plate.

My daughter works in Birmingham as a nurse so came in for a visit and going to the games on friday.. It is my first time to Hoover. I still need to buy tickets but can i assume since we are the lower sed that we will be the home team and on the 3rd base side?

You should be able to sit anywhere. Few are in their assigned seats. Just arrive early.

One nice feature, the stadium parking lot has a good number of RV hookups. SEC ready :-)

Full Moon BBQ, Saws, Jim n Nicks BBQ are all decent.

Somehow "hard corp" was the least incorrect thing in this post
